Patarei Vangla, Tallinn Prison
The abandoned soviet prison in Tallinn, Estonia. Originally built as a sea fortress in 1840, housing prisoners from 1919 until 2004 when all prisoners and staff were moved, the prison left exactly as it was that day. We visited it on a beautiful day in May 2016, paid 2⬠each and were left to wonder around all by ourselves despite the broken stairs and floorboards. By the July, they were forced to close the prison to the public due to health and safety reasons. So grateful we had the opportunity to explore it beforehand. A day Iâll never forget.
