Wild in North Dakota
Today I want to share with you a neat observation I was able to make while out in the field recently. It is of Stallions Arrowhead and Copper and the friendship they've formed over the years. Many of you may remember back from 2014 when Copper got the wire cut to his pastern that should have ended his life...At that time, young Arrowhead had recently lost his Sire Embers and was walking alone. Lone and behold, these two crossed paths and Arrowhead chose to stay with Copper and keep him company while he recovered. In time, Copper was well enough to move off on his own and ended up gaining mares as time went on. This past year with the loss of Stallion Silver, Copper also managed to pick up his entire Band and still has all of them today. Over time, Arrowhead too was successful and ended up picking up all of Blaze's mares. What I got to witness this past trip is the two Stallions are nearly always seen together now, side by side both holding their individual families. How cool is that?! One particular evening, they were standing close together and Copper decided to move off. The second he was out of sight, Arrowhead went to see where Copper was off to. Horses are extremely social beings and it is evident in stories like this that they make long lasting friendships with one another! Hope you enjoyed this story Thanks everyone!
