My โHoly 5โ albums. This is in no way related to how Iโd rate or rank these albums on quality, just based on how important they are to me. (Also this was hard af.)
5: BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION (2017)
The Saturation trilogy was the best thing to happen to hip-hop in 2017, the most important year in hip-hop for my life. The chemistry in BH is paralleled by few rap groups in the past 20 years.
4: Nirvana - In Utero (1993)
Nirvana was one of the first non-rap groups I truly loved, which got me into a lot of other hard rock and punk rock groups. Though Nevermind was my first listen and their most accessible release, the bandโs identity shines through even stronger on their third and final album.
3: Death Grips - The Money Store (2012)
The only album that took me 5+ tries to get into, that I eventually loved. They are now among my favorite bands ever and TMS got me to appreciate a much more experimental and aggressive side of music.
2: Radiohead - In Rainbows (2007)
My favorite band ever, and an album that is so easy to feel emotionally connected to.
1: Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly (2015)
This album established that the concepts of โartโ and โhip-hopโ were still firmly intertwined with one another in the 21st century.
What album(s) means the most to you? And why?
