One of my favorite protocols to accelerate fat loss, it’s a combination of High intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Core training, and Low Intensity Cardio. After you warm up. Do 10-15 minutes of High Intensity Training, in this Session I did 5 round of full effort Sprints (resting as much as needed between rounds) and did 5 Rounds of 20 second sprints on the bike followed by 10 seconds rest. Then I dedicate another 10-15 minuets for Core work, here I did Leg raises on the bar and then did some side planks. The final portion would be 20-30 minuets of low intensity cardio work (not filmed) this can be anything from walking, easy swim, yoga. This protocol is the best to felt fat when it comes to cardio. Tuesday practice! Or should I say 2sday 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Coaches! Keep slicing up your training by making purposeful sets that follow a pattern or a theme. Swimming every day gets boring, and to extend this further, training every day for any sport can get boring/mentally fatiguing. By developing themes for your athletes, training somehow becomes easier and your kids become more engaged. Sport psychology must be a major priority for you as a coach. I mean think about it, the mind controls our perception on anything. So if you engage the mind in the right way, your athlete will perform better for you in practice. Just a thought. Always remember, have fun, stay say, and adjust as needed... Till next time!

Because of time constraints I was up and out of the bed a little earlier than I had hoped for coming off a night shift, but the day was sunny ☀️ so no complaints here. . On the plan today was some 400’s working in that 3k-5k range but if I didn’t feel great I had decided to back off a bit. 5k race Friday night so I wasn’t too pushed about killing it if the legs weren’t there. . Things were looking good on the warmup but I accidentally hit my watch off an adjacent lamppost and the screen went blank😬😬...I really didn’t need that to happen so I was forced into running off feel. That wasn’t a problem but i was worried 😧 about the watch!!! Would it ever work again 🤔🤔 . I had a flat area marked out in 400m sections so at least I could do the workout ✅The first 7 reps felt good, I was running fast but in control and then out of the blue the watch sprang back to life🤗. I timed the last rep but deliberately didn’t look at the pace till I was finished. Strengthening muscle improves performance, but we often forget about the role of tendons. . Training the Achilles tendon is key, because it is the largest and strongest tendon in the body and the most frequently injured tendon. Strengthening or hardening it allows you to produce more force and help limit injuries. It takes time and patience to train the Achilles, because blood flow is limited to your tendons, it can be difficult to cause enough stress to illicit a training response. . More protein or better sleep? • The fitness industry is a billion dollar machine and it loves to sell us the ‘silver bullet’ that will make us fit, happy and healthy. This usually comes in the form of something that concentrates on one area, supplements being the prime example. • Drink ‘this’ protein shake and achieve ‘these’ incredible results! The trouble is, by trying to provide a ‘simple fix’ they actually make the situation more frustrating because they are not addressing the big picture. The human body is a hugely complex system which has evolved over millions of years to be incredibly robust and efficient. And yet we fail to give it the credit it deserves. • Instead of worrying about your protein intake first focus on the most powerful natural weapon in your fitness arsenal - sleep! Your quality and quantity of sleep will give you more of an edge than anything you put in a shake. • Sleep is like food, water and air, the basic biological need that humans have to have to survive. BUT you want to go beyond survival and that means you want to optimise your sleep and realise it’s value to enhance your performance. • Society reinforces that sleep loss equals a badge of courage; you don’t have to sleep so you can get the job done. Yet, all the science says this is complete rubbish. You might think that way, but your performance will suffer. • The protein industry and our current obsession with it surmises all that is wrong with how we approach health and fitness. Is protein important? Yes, it’s an essential macronutrient. But not over and above all the other equally vital components. Why are we hammering home the protein message and saying ‘get good quality sleep’ as a side note? The second stretch this week is called Front to Back Stretch. This is a great stretch for the biceps, anterior and posterior deltoid, and even in the pectoralis major/minor while promoting healthy movement in the subscapularis and teres. To perform, start in a seated position with your feet out in front of you. Place both hands behind you with your hands as close together as possible while keeping your elbows straight. From here, scoot forwards as far as you can while keeping your hands in the same spot. Once you reach your stretching point, relax your neck and look up at the ceiling. Start by holding this stretch for one minute. Knee Rehab - Box Jump Progressions ——— I use box jumps in rehab for a variety of reasons but ability to accept force and generate force are two of the primary ones to put it simply. While jumping is not a huge component of every sport, think soccer versus basketball, I do want my athletes to be confident in doing so. Here is a series of jumps I like to use. In addition to these variations, the height of the box can influence the difficulty as well. @beth_esda02 ——— 1️⃣ Box jump - jumping onto the box decreases the force upon landing since there’s less distance going downward. This also tests whether they’re comfortable generating force to jump onto the box. 2️⃣ Box jump - this is a progression as the height is higher on her jump and requires more eccentric control upon landing. 3️⃣ Single leg step off - I use this for nearly every lower extremity athlete as it demonstrates whether they can handle accepting weight onto one leg but also their balance. I don’t want to see a lot of compensations from the trunk, hips and knees. 4️⃣ Double box jump - this works on accepting load eccentrically and quickly transitions into concentrics as she jumps onto the second box. ——— Tag someone who you want to try box jumps with!
