This is what dedication looks like... Louise Cranston has been training at Dynamo Athletic for well over a year now and her commitment to her training and sport is second to none. On the weekend, Louise competed in the NSW region 7 Little Athletics Championships where she won the 100m and 200m title and anchored the Campbelltown 4x100m relay team to a thrilling win. She also placed 2nd in Long Jump, High Jump and 100m Hurdles. Louise trains at Dynamo three times per week, has Athletics training five days per week and is currently in year 12 at Mount Annan Christian College where she is school Vice Captain and engages in numerous community activities. As promised here is how we perform a release for the pecs. Key points: 1. Only lay into and compress the tissue to the point of discomfort, but, not pain. On a scale of 1-10, I'd like you between 4-7. Pain will lead to that muscle tightening up thereby contacting the muscle which means you won't be able to penetrate the tissue. 2. Continue to breathe, do not hold your breath. The idea here is to relax, not to get into a sympathetic state but rather parasympathetic state. Breathing will also help with the discomfort and the increased flow of blood helps with recovery of tissue. As well the increased fluid flow helps tissue to slide with fluidity. 3. Tempo. I have no idea why everyone is in a rush, but slow and controlled is KEY. Think about this, if you're sensitive and it hurts you'll lock the muscle up thereby not allowing you to penetrate the tissue and, in the end, really accomplishing nothing. So, remember.... SLOW AND CONTROLLED! 4. Last point is posture. Two reasons: to help you breathe better and create the habit of better posture. After all, it's part of the reason we do this in the first place. Box Jump Progressions - Box jumps are a great exercise for both beginners and advanced athletes. For beginners they are a great start to adding jumping into their training. For advanced athletes, they are great during a preparatory phase. - The landing on the box helps decrease the amount of force that one sees when compared to landing back on the ground after a jump. The box jump allows you to build up strength before adding in the high eccentric loads that can occur during landing from a higher point. - First start your box jumps from a static start. The static start builds concentric strength needed for more difficult variations down the road. - The countermovement jump introduces the stretch reflex synonymous with plyometrics. The rapid downward movement brings into play the elastic properties of the muscles and tendons of the lower body. The “snapdown” should be fast and deliberate. This rapid stretch of the muscles allows the muscles to create more force, leading to a more powerful jump. - The box jump with a single-leg landing increases the complexity of the exercise. It not only increases the loads upon landing but also the balance demands of the leg during the one leg landing. This is a great way to introduce single-leg landings because the box decreases the loads experienced during landings compared to the ground. - Adding a rotational component is another way to increase the complexity. - There are other variations that you can use to continue to increase the challenge but jumping in khakis like I am trying to do does not allow you to fully express my elite athleticism😂😂😂
