Is Peyton Hillis the most bizarre 1 hit wonder that you can remember?
Originally drafted by the #Broncos in the 7th round, Hillis showed early signs of promise during his first two seasons in Denver. He would take over for an injured Ryan Torain during his rookie season, earning Fed Ex Ground Player of the week after a 129 yard day vs the #Jets. Eventually Hillis’ rookie year with end with an injury, but he’d come into the next year labelled Denver’s starting FB. In 2009 with the arrival of new HC Josh McDaniels, Hillis received limited playing time and RB the next year was eventually traded the following offseason to the #Browns (in a deal involving QB Brady Quinn). In 2010, Hillis would take the league by storm, totally 1,654 yards, 13 total TDs and 61 receptions. Many considered him the best white RB ever. He would even grace the cover of Madden 12, as an overwhelming fan favorite. However things would take a nasty turn after 2010 as Peyton would live up to the “Madden curse”, having a year of contract disputes with the team, missing a game due to strep throat and never getting back to what he was. After a disappointing 2011 season if 587 rushing yards, 3 TDs, Hillis wanted to stay in Cleveland but the team had enough. Hillis would briefly have stints with the #Chiefs, #Buccaneers and #Giants before retiring in 2015.
