I saw it, and I loved it. Really having a hard time understanding where the uproar is coming from with fans. This movie was definitely not safe or formulaic. There's a part of me that wants to say "if it isn't broken don't fix it", because I can't say Star Wars NEEDED to have a change up like this, but it was very welcome. There were things that happened that broaden the universe instead of keeping it small. Bold decisions that make room for the new characters to be even better. I didn't have some elaborate Rey or Snoke theories, and got exactly what I hoped for (at this point). Luke, Rey, Kylo, Leia, Finn, Poe, ALL AMAZING performances and character growth. This was a very character driven movie, while the plot itself was rather singular with the conflict on the First Order and Resistance the whole time. It gave me things I didn't see coming, and I loved it. Can't wait to see where 9 goes after this. Purists may struggle with this movie, but if they take a good look, there should be plenty to love. Rian Johnson did an amazing job keeping me on my toes. My only possible gripe is that the porgs stood out a bit? But they honestly felt like a well placed Easter egg to KOTOR gizka. 😉 9.6/10 definitely going again and again. JJ Abrams sure has a lot to follow up on with 9! . . . . #starwars #thelastjedi #starwarsthelastjedi #lukeskywalker #rey #film #finn #poe #generalleia #markhamill #daisyridley #episode8 #scifi #movie #cinephilecommunity #supermoviebuffcrew #rianjohnson #carriefisher #jjabrams

Well... here it is everyone. My favourite shot of all time. I actually just finished showing this movie to my girlfriend and it was incredible once again. Timeless. The cinematography doesn’t get enough praise and this shot alone is what made me start this series. It has such an amazing element of darkness and mystery to it that I can’t help but love. Hope you’ve all enjoyed this series. Thank you so much for being a part of it. Stronger (2017) Director: David Gordon Green Main Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Tatiana Maslany, Distributor: Lionsgate Studios Rating: R (for language throughout, some graphic injury images, and brief sexuality/nudity) Genre: Drama Stronger is a film based on the true story of Jeff Bauman, a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. He lost both of his legs and it shows how he adjusted to living his new lifestyle. Jake Gyllenhaal gives one of his best performances ever as Bauman. You can see how he struggled with the realization that he can never walk the same way again and that he is considered to be a hero. Tatiana Maslany is a great supporting actress as well. The film can be very graphic but also emotional. David Gordon Green directed a film that respects the man but also entertains the audience. As it is similar to Patriots Day, it tells a more personal story of a survivor. Stronger is a dramatic story about the struggles of life after a tragic situation and how it does get better. Better Watch Out, is a 2016/17 Australian-American psychological horror film directed by Chris Peckover and written by Peckover and Zack Kahn. On a quiet suburban street, a babysitter must defend a twelve-year-old boy from intruders, only to discover it’s far from a normal home invasion. During the first 30 minutes of this movie I was finding it average at best. The acting was already disappointing me and the 12-year-old I already wanted to club over the head. Then minute 32 happened, and my just meh demeanour turned into full blown hatred. I hated every single aspect of this movie, I could not believe my eyes. One of the things that frustrates me is that just a few short months ago I was watching Levi Miller in Japser Jones and that film and his performance just completely blew me away and then there’s this. The acting was horrendous. There was nowhere I could turn and go “wow that’s so amazing” because it wasn’t. If you call something a psychological horror than the actors need to make me believe it. I needed Olivia DeJonge to really sell me on either being insanely terrified or being a character who turns her fear into her strength and fights back, I got neither. And Levi presents his character as nothing more than an obnoxious child, whose personality and behaviour is not remotely consistent, much like some plot elements of this movie. . . One of Hollywood’s first superstars would today be referred to as a male sex-symbol. He was also of Asian decent. Sessue Hayakawa (1889-1973) with his smouldering looks, often played a villain which made his fans love him more. Rivalling Fairbanks, Chaplin and Barrymore’s level of fame, his success was made more remarkable due to an interracial screen romance being so taboo at the time. In fact it was part of his appeal. Born in Japan, bursting an eardrum on a swimming dare prevented him from war service. Ashamed he tried to commit harakiri. Saved by his barking dog and his father he would come to America to study economics. A talented footballer in university he drifted into acting in Los Angeles and then films. Making his debut in Ince’s “The Tycoon” it was in DeMille’s “The Cheat” a smash that made him a star playing the first of many “forbidden lovers” or villains. Disenchanted with his typecasting despite his huge success he turned down Valentino’s role in “The Sheik” to form his own production company which would make him one of the top earning stars - around $2M a year - at that time. With fans dropping their coats in puddles for him to cross, driving his Pierce-Arrow and known for throwing the wildest parties of his day, by the mid 20’s his star had diminished so he left Hollywood for Europe with success. Coming back to Hollywood opposite Wong in the “talkie” “Daughter of the Dragon“, failed so he went back to France where he stayed separated from his family during the occupation. Hollywood remembered him when Bogart wanted him for “Tokyo Joe.” Roles followed in “Three Came Home”, “House of Bamboo”, his brilliant Oscar nominated “honorable villain” Colonel Saito in Lean’s “The Bridge on the River Kwai”, the crowning achievement of his career, “The Geisha Boy” and Disney’s “Swiss Family Robinson.” He said. “All my life has been a journey. But my journey differs from the journeys of most men. My one ambition is to play a hero.” This Zen Buddhist master, a French resistance member in WWII, painter and acting coach had in fact always been a hero throughout his remarkable journey. #japan #1889 #sessuehayakawa #hero #idol #heartthrob #moviestar #silentmovie

📺👀🍿This Movie Watchlist's recommendation is a decent and noteworthy debut film and kind of a sleeper hit: "The Survivalist" by Stephen Fingleton (GB 2015) ---------------------------------------- Screenplay: Stephen Fingleton Cinematography: Damien Elliott Cast: Martin McCann, Olwen Fouere, Mia Goth, Barry Ward Awards: Best New Narrative Director (Tribecca Film Festival), Douglas Hickox Award (British Independent Film Awards) ---------------------------------------- "Impressively lean and rigidly controlled, 'The Survivalist' achieves, at times, the primitive allure of a silent movie. [...] Employing neither computer-generated effects nor a distracting score, [the film] bolsters its pitiless tone and uneasy mood with natural woodland sounds and the unreliable light of fire and lamp. Observing the film’s horrors [...] with the same neutral gaze as its softer moments, [the director] seems to acknowledge that when society falls apart, empathy might be the first and most regrettable casualty." - by Jeanette Catsoulis in The New York Times --------------------------------------- Follow @movie_watchlist_ for new recommendations every week --------------------------------------- @sfingali #film #filme #films #cinema #cine #cinematic #movies #movie #movietime #greatmovie #movieoftheday #goodmovie #instamovies #instacinema #ilovemoviems #movielover #filmposter #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #filmcommunity #filmfan

#italianfilm #italy #italian #dirkbogarde #charlotterampling #filmphotography #scandal #dance #filmography #pierpaolopasolini #pasolini #ettorescola #directed #director #society #cavani #drama #historical #cinephilecommunity #cinephile #cinematograph #cinematographer #cinematography #austria #osterreich #victim #eroticart #erotic #imaginary #fantasy

Film #10 in the 25 Days of Christmas is The Christmas Switch, also known as The Christmas Gamble, a 2014 Canadian family film directed by Paul Lynch and written by Ronald Peterson, Joe Goodman and Albert Xhaferri. Through Eddie's wit and guile, he gives a sick Sam his last chance at playing Santa and finally finds the real meaning of Christmas the gambler's way. At first i wasn't too sure about this, my number 1 reason for watching it was the fact it stars Brian Krause, so it was great that by the end i realised i rather enjoyed it. You're not a true Christmas movie unless one of your leading characters has learned a deep and profound life lesson. I thought this had a lovely story, it depicts Santa in a completely different way and i love its focus on depicting the Christmas spirit as something that involves giving back to the community. Had a tear in my eye toward the end, so well done. I really enjoyed Brian in this, Brian is no stranger to playing multiple persona's in one role, he pretty much mastered that during his time on Charmed. The only con i have about this film was that some of the additional actors performances felt really weak and forced which i didn't enjoy. But i can overlook that due to the 3 main leads working really well off one another. Cedric Smith as Sam Wellls was so good, something about his performance just made me want to hug him the whole time, so i give this movie 🎄🎄🎄🎄 4/5 Christmas Trees. . . #TheChristmasSwitch #PaulLynch #BrianKrause #NatashaHenstridge #CedricSmith #Charmed #Christmas #ChristmasMovie #25DaysOfChristmas #SantaClause #Movie #Film #Review #MovieReview #FilmReview #MovieCritic #FilmCritic #Cinephile #CinephileCommunity #InstaMovie #InstaFilm #InstaReview #MovieEnthusiast #MovieLover #MovieAddict #MovieGeek #MovieBuff

1. I have seen 4000 movies! My last post for 3000 was 2 year, 4 months ago. I figure 840 days more or less I've seen 1000 movies I've never seen before. Fuck I'm lazy. 2. I'm usually only willing to go to 1 movie theatre in my city. I don't go downtown because parking is notoriously bad, and I don't feel like beating off the crackheads today. But the one I went to, it's a bit father off, but OMG, assigned seating for BIG, WIDE, COMFY AF SEATS, that remotely recline, with a leg rest sticking out. 3. Now I know y'all saying number 4000 shoulda been The Last Jedi, but I'd rather mark this occasion with a movie I know won't disappoint me. And boy did Lady Bird not disappoint! It's a meticulously written coming-of-age tale made up of pieces of a highschool experience, of friendship, of a daughter and mother failing to communicate with eachother, all coming full circle under a theme for longing for identity and love. And it's not like the film says anything new or different than others of its genre. Others films try to be kooky or something less honest to distinguish themselves. But, see, Gerwig didn't feel obligated to do so. She felt obligated to just make a sincere film, filled with character nuances, sassy and familiar humour, and emotion that never feels manipulative or artificial. Hands down my favourite Saoirse Ronan role; rebellious yet lost and makes mistakes we can empathize. And Laurie Metcalf as her worried mother deserves an Oscar nom. Both of them hit their emotional moments together beautifully. Gerwig's directing is surprisingly VERY GOOD. All the right framing and staging that actually works into the comedy and drama, and great forethought put into the shots she knew would be montage moments. It all flows like.... well, like Gerwig has always been a seasoned director, actually. Cinematography melts naturally, like a memory. Sincerity and personal detail is the strength of this film, (one quote especially, I won't say, but is 100% the truth and I love the film said it), and it REALLY IS that brilliant for it. #nowwatching #cinephile #lovemovies #cinema #movies #movie #film #cinephilecommunity #ladybird #saoirseronan #gretagerwig

DOG DAY AFTERNOON Directed by- #sidneylumet Starring- #alpacino #johncazale #chrissarandon #charlesdurning ________________________________________________ TRIVIA- • The real bank robber (John Wojtowicz) had watched The #godfather (1972) to get ideas the day he robbed the Chase Manhattan bank. Both Al Pacino and John Cazale were in "The Godfather". • Although he had initially agreed to play the part of Sonny, Al Pacino told Sidney Lumet near the start of production that he couldn't play it. Pacino had just completed production on The #godfather2 (1974) and was physically exhausted and depressed after the #shoot. With his reliance on the Method, Pacino didn't relish the thought of working himself up to a state of near hysteria every day. Lumet unhappily accepted the actor's decision and dispatched the script to #dustinhoffman . #pacino changed his mind when he heard that his rival was in the fray.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI My rate: 4/5* Star Wars: The Last Jedi bukan film terbaik dari rangkaian Star Wars saga. Suka sekali! Oke, sekarang aku ingin 'ngomel' tentang Kylo Ren. He made me like Kylo Ren a lot better than I used to. And his hair... And his voice... OMG!

So i finally i watched it, ok, Are you satisfied now. Always judging my lists and shit. #Dunkirk is a #2017 War/Drama based on the the true events that took place on the beaches of Dunkirk, France during World War 2 and the story of the english Civilian boats that went to help them escape. This movie gives you three different perspectives on the situation, the Planes in the Air, The Boats in the Water and the Soldiers on the Ground(the air was my favorite). I was extremely excited to watch this as Christopher Nolan is easily one of my all time favorite directors. It did take me an awful long time to get around to it, and that only made me more excited. I was very happy with this movie by the end, it did start off slow and i wasnt super into it, but it just kept picking up steam, faster and faster and got better and better. The writing is very well done, the story is good and pulled from an historical event im not super familiar with. The dialogue is strong and feels very authentic to the situation, the characters are good as well, though i would have liked a bit more development outside of the soldiers on the beach. The directing and cinematography are both amazing, with great tone and some very beautiful visuals, i honestly see both of them being nominated for #oscars , not much else to touch on there. The acting is really good but not great, and its not so much that performances are bad, but more that there are so many characters we dont get too much out of any one person. I did think Tom Hardy was fantastic, i really liked Mark Rylance and i also thought Kenneth Branagh was very good in a smaller role. This movie definitely lived up to my expectations and im very glad i watched it, i highly recommend checking this out if you haven't, right now as of #december 16, 2017 this is number 1 on my list for the year. 9/10 #cinephile #saturday #saturdaynight #weekend
