Hi friends, let’s have a quick chat. I’m seeing a LOT of posts that are preaching not stressing about food on thanksgiving. They’re saying don’t worry about calories, just enjoy time with family, etc. which is great! But most of them have one thing in common that doesn’t sit right with me - using the wording “one day.” . . “One day won’t kill you!” Ok true, but neither will a few days. For me, I’ve always had 3-4 thanksgivings every year with different parts of my family (immediate fam, moms side, dads mom, dads dad). So when I was insecure about food and saw these messages about indulging only on one day, it would make me feel guilty for doing it for 4 days. . . Here’s the thing: you should be eating what makes you happy EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE. That doesn’t mean a huge thanksgiving feast, but it does mean that you shouldn’t have to feel shame over anything, ever. So then when holidays come, it doesn’t have to be such a big deal to “let loose” for one day - you’re going to go about it like you would any other day. Are you going to eat more than you would any other day? Yeah probably. But it doesn’t have to be a big deal to “get back on track” the next day (don’t get me started there 🙄) . . So, yes, I agree 100% - don’t stress about your food on thanksgiving. But just remember that you don’t have to stress about food any other day of your life either. Eat what you want, when you want. Just please remember that there are more important things to focus on than food and your body - especially around the holidays. ❤️

Gallbladder gone! Yay 😁. Now I can eat exactly what I want and I wanted to try a Belgian Bun. Delicious 😋. Having been ill for so long - 2 years - and lost so much weight (now 7 1/2 st) - I have a lot of catching up to do. It’s just really hard getting my head round eating again. Let’s hope this is the start of a new relationship with food. This morning I decided to let myself have a decaf cappuccino since it had been about 2 months since I have had any coffee. ☕ I had about 1/3 of the cup and about an hour later I regretted that choice immensely. 😫 The hardest things about living with GERD and IBS-C, for me, are that some of my triggers are ever changing and others are things I absolutely love. 🍺 It is hard enough to feel like my body is against me but I already watch my diet closely and the picture above is of a very rare occation where I honor my intense cravings and chance it. 🍽 Well I learned my lesson. On the bright side, my actual food hit the spot and I do not regret having them. 🥓 My tastebuds adore coffee but my digestive system does not.

What is a MACRO?! ____ When it comes to nutrition, the calories you intake on a daily basis are made up of macros, which are fulfilled by all the fats, carbs and proteins that you eat. ____ But not all macros are equal. Proteins consist of 4 calories per gram, carbs are 4 calories per gram and fats are 9 calories per gram. ____ I recorded a full day of eating for y’all. This shows you that I follow a 80/20 diet. The chicken sandwich was much more of a challenge then the peanut butter one and didn’t taste as good. The white chocolate was one from a Christmas box of chocolates and those freak me out so I had to eat one. Nam Din Pho - Herbal Soup with Rice Noodles and Chicken. Goi Cuon - Prawns, rice noodles, vegetables, eggs wrapped with Rice Paper. 🥗🍗Kept it simple for dinner. ❌Dietas com MENU FIXO ou com horários rígidos para comer podem não ser produtivas a longo prazo; elas podem trazer aquela sensação de que se comermos algo que não faz parte do menu ou em horário diferente estamos burlando a dieta. E junto a isso, pode vir o pensamento de ou tudo ou nada: “já que eu saí da dieta melhor eu aproveitar e comer tudo que quero” ... mal sabe a pessoa que às vezes aquele biscoitinho que ela comeu inicialmente não iria prejudicar em nada os seus objetivos, mas depois do biscoito veio o bolo, a pizza, o salgadinho...e junto a isso a sensação de culpa e fracasso! Então que tal nos educarmos com relação ao perfil nutricional dos alimentos, aprender um pouco sobre o que comemos para não precisarmos ficar preso a um menu? A dieta flexível pode nos auxiliar muito nesse processo de aprendizagem e irá não só nos dar mais independência como também melhorar o nosso relacionamento com a comida. ❌Diets with a fixed menu or eating schedule can be counterproductive in the long run; they can make you feel like you are cheating on your diet if you eat something that is not on your meal plan or at a different time. And together with that comes the all or nothing mindset: "since I cheated on my diet I might as well eat everything I want today". If the person only knew that maybe that little cookie that he/she initially ate wouldn't harm his/her goals at all...but after the cookie came the cake, the pizza, the crackers... and together with that the feeling of guiltiness and defeat! So why don't we educate ourselves on the nutritional profile of food items and learn a little bit about the food we eat so we don't need to be locked into a meal plan? I have already seen so many posts about how to stay on track during thanksgiving. Like, unbelievable amounts, that by the time the day actually even rolls around you’re drowning in anxiety. Swipe through these pictures. Which one gives you the most anxiety? Which one is the most tempting to you? And which one is the least appetizing to you? Seeing these pictures and visualizing thanksgiving day should NOT spur anxiety about food in your mind. Thanksgiving is about FAMILY and being GRATEFUL for the love that we share and the lives that we live. I used to fear thanksgiving so much. I would work out 3 extra hours the days before, of, and after to work off what i ate, and one year i remember crying because I thought I ate too much pie. THIS IS NOT how we were meant to live. We were not born hating our bodies or fearing food. This is learned behavior, and it can be unlearned. So instead of worrying about how to “burn off the extra calories” or “save up for the big day” JUST BE! Eat like it’s any other normal day and shift your focus to the MOMENTS and the EXPERIENCES! I am SO excited for thanksgiving this year because I’m going to eat everything that I restricted for nearly a decade, and I’m going to enjoy every single bite, guilt free, without worrying about how to work it off. Because I KNOW and TRUST that my body will use that food as energy and it will not be stored as fat. Stop fearing food. Stop fearing holidays. Just start living life. It is so much easier!!! And it is soooo much more FUN!!!!! You CAN have this freedom. I can help get you there. But you’ve got to be willing to try. I know it’s scary. But we do it one step at a time and on YOUR terms.
