Going through some tough times at the moment. I had a week of migraines then with the change of weather has caused allergies to kick in and also mental health has taken a downturn. But it’s good to remember that, just like good times, the bad times don’t last. I’m trying to be good to myself and feed myself good stuff and keep the activity levels up. Rice, greens, chicken, and eggs/egg whites. Pretty much sums up 90% of my diet. These foods keep me feeling full & energized, and can be prepared in a variety of ways. Find what works for YOU. I think it's really important to not label the way you eat. I've made that mistake before. Not only do you put yourself in a box and have to explain your diet to people (not sure why everyone cares), but you create that guilty mindset around food you're "not supposed to eat. I eat what I want. Sometimes I eat chicken, sometimes I eat vegetarian chicken. I eat A LOT of carbs. I keep the cheese to.a minimum because of my stomach. I eat spicy foods often. I'm a veggie freak. I love mixing a dash of dressing into my meals for added flavor and moisture. I also love pizza, chips, and ice cream. Not paleo not vegan not vegetarian not keto not anything. Just food I like going into my gullet 😋

So, if I had a dollar 💵 for every time someone asked me if they should eat fruit 🍉 and how much...I would open up my own juice bar 😂 NO JOKE. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First of all, a study back in 2010 done by 500 researchers, known as the Global Burden of Disease Study, showed that the worst aspect of our diet is not eating enough fruit ☝️ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fruit is anti-inflammatory, full of antioxidants, reduces cardiovascular risk and may even be anti-cancerous. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But then what about people with diabetes? Insulin resistance? What about the fructose? .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There have been many studies done on this. The conclusion is that the effects of eating fructose from ADDED sugars is toxic to our health....NOT the fructose from fruit! Remember, fruit sugar is all natural sugar--big difference! .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Many believe that the threshold of toxicity of fructose would be 50g, which is about 5 servings of fruit 🍌 🍎🍇🥝🍊per day! It’s not hard for me to be vulnerable anymore... there are still plenty of days where I am finding myself in a place where I need to step back to remember how far I’ve come and that is okay! I’m not done growing. I’m not doing learning. I’m not done changing. Part of my process to self-acceptance is finding peace in my doubt, in the questions, and crummy days... letting myself go to sleep at night knowing, I’m not perfect, but I will be fine. I’m not just happy during the easy ones, where I feel great. I do still need reminders. That is my reality and that is something I’m okay with. I’m still along for the ride. ✨ Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. “A lot of people, myself included, would want to headbutt a knife if we ate low carb.” . ➰ Oh lord. If I didn’t eat bread, potatoes, peanut butter and rice, ya girl would be a hangry b*tch. . ➰ When fat loss is your goal, the principles are actually very simple... be in a caloric deficit. . ➰ This means that you burn more calories than you consume. To do this: . ➰ 1. Track your calories as accurately as you can. 2. Eat foods that help you stick to eating in a caloric deficit. A lot of people, myself included, would want to headbutt a knife if we ate low carb. I neeeed my potatoes, bread, rice, and oats. If I didn’t allow myself to eat these foods I would literally not be able to stick to eating in a caloric deficit. I just wouldn’t last. Are you picking up what I’m putting down? In other words, if ya don’t really like eating chicken for your source of protein, then eat some other kind of protein (fish, beef, turkey, etc.) if you don’t like broccoli for your source of veggie, then don’t force yourself to eat broccoli. Find the foods you like to eat and stick with that. 3. Eat a little bit less, move more. Especially if you think that you’re eating in a caloric deficit but you’re not losing weight, well then move more, eat less. . ➰ Now if you can’t adhere to this, it’s not the foods you are eating that are causing you to not lose lose fat. It’s really that they aren’t helping you stick to it! The exact protein, carbs and fats you eat aren’t as important as to HOW MUCH you’re eating. . ➰ Finding a way that helps you adhere and stick to your deficit with YOUR lifestyle is the most important factor in losing fat.
