If you are running into recurring tweaks/ injuries from poor form, turning to videos and posts may not be helpful. You should invest in some one-on-one training with a qualified trainer. It can be hard to find someone qualified and it can be costly but it's worth investing early. You can either pay them now or pay 10x more later when you are recovering from injury. Note: Physical therapists, chrios, massages, etc, aren't great options if you continue to have shit form afterwards. 🔴INTERMITTENT FASTING🔴 by @fittrainers ⠀ 🤔 A phenomenon called intermittent fasting is currently one of the world's most popular health and fitness trends. It involves alternating cycles of fasting and eating. ⠀ Many studies show that this can cause weight loss, improve metabolic health, protect against disease and perhaps help you live longer. ⠀ So what is this 'magical' intermittent fasting thing? ⠀ It’s literally just a meal timing strategy that will make creating a calorie deficit easier.. That’s what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. ⠀ It does not say anything about which foods to eat, but rather when you should eat them. ⠀ There are several different intermittent fasting methods, all of which split the day or week into eating periods and fasting periods. ⠀ Most people already "fast" every day, while they sleep. Intermittent fasting can be as simple as extending that fast a little longer. ⠀ You can do this by skipping breakfast, eating your first meal at noon and your last meal at 8 pm. ⠀ Then you're technically fasting for 16 hours every day, and restricting your eating to an 8-hour eating window. This is the most popular form of intermittent fasting, known as the 16/8 method. ⠀ Despite what you may think, intermittent fasting is actually fairly easy to do. Many people report feeling better and having more energy during a fast. ⠀ Hunger is usually not that big of an issue, although it can be a problem in the beginning, while your body is getting used to not eating for extended periods of time. ⠀ No food is allowed during the fasting period, but you can drink water, coffee, tea and other non-caloric beverages. ⠀ I personally found that an 8 hour eating window works best for me, some prefer 6-10 hours. And who could blame you for the obsession? ⠀ Every day, there are tons ’n’ bunches of advertisements targeted at you saying things like... ⠀ "lose 10 pounds right now doing THIS!" “7 pounds lighter in 7 days with THIS!" ⠀ Deep down, you know those types of claims are straight doggy doo-doo… ⠀ Truth is, the scale is much less important than you’ve been led to believe. ⠀ Yes, It can be useful for tracking and analyzing progress, but it's not everything. There are all sorts of ways to make progress that have little or nothing to do with the scale! ⠀ Some Example: ⠀ Maintaining a New Low Weight ✅ ⠀ ⠀ Losing Inches at the Same Weight ✅ ⠀ The scale might not budge, but if your measurements are going down, that's progress! ⠀ Having More Energy ✅ - you’re eating better foods. You’re exercising regularly. You’re getting more sleep (hopefully). ⠀ Those are wins, my friend. ⠀ Getting Stronger ✅ - it's a good sign you're building muscle, and that’s progress. Plain & simple. ⠀ Subtle Changes in the Mirror ✅ - this is where pictures come in handy because it’s difficult to see physical changes when you're looking at yourself every single day... ⠀ Progress pics taking bi-weekly or monthly will help show changes that aren't well reflected by a 2-3 digit number on the scale. ⠀ Daily Activity Getting Easier ✅ - fewer creaks, pain, and wibble-wobbles? I made sure to get it done for you guys ! ⠀🤓 ⠀ ⠀ 9 sets of 10-12 reps⠀ 45lbs 10-12 reps - 5 times ⠀ 30lbs 10-12 reps - 4 times. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Never really used the fly my machine because of my shoulders before. For #transformationtuesday I wanna give a quick update on how my fat loss is going. . One of the biggest values of having a coach is accountability and sticking to a timeline; of which I don’t have either, and it shows. . I still suck at impulse control, but I’m slowly getting better. I don’t have the space to get into too many details – I will in a future IGTV video – but suffice to say my adherence hasn’t been the best, hence my fat loss progress isn’t stunning by any means. . However, I still think – and based on feedback from others, I’m not just delusional – that I’ve made some slow but steady progress in the right direction. . The coolest part about these two pictures – left taken on February 25th, right taken yesterday, May 20th - is I weigh roughly the same in both ; around 88 kg. . I’ve had weigh-ins as low as 85.9 kg, and in the right pic I actually weighed in at 90 kg, but that was pretty bloated, and today I woke up at 88, just as expected. . I tried to keep conditions as identical as possible – same light, same position, both taken fasted, without any food, no pump, no filter on the photos etc. . The goal moving forward is to increase adherence to my prescribed macros as much as possible, minimize emotional eating and drop a solid ~5 kg of bodyfat in the next 12 weeks. #Repost @cartergood with @get_repost ・・・ This is a SERIOUS problem... ⠀ With how you’re thinking about food. ⠀ Most peeps think of foods as being either “GOOD” or “BAD.” ⠀ GOOD ✅: Apples 🍏 Salads 🥗 Avocados 🥑 ⠀ ⠀ BAD ❌: Chocolate 🍫 Cookies 🍪 Cake 🍰 ⠀ The Truth? Few things in life are purely black & white, and our food choices are no exception! ⠀ Some foods are more nutritious than others, but that doesn’t make them “good” and the other foods “bad.” ⠀ Anyways... ⠀ There's not even a one-size-fits-all definition for the terms "good food" and "bad food"... ⠀ For example, folks following a vegan diet vs. a paleo diet are going to have different views on the healthiness of certain foods like meat 🍖, nuts 🥜, and whole grains 🍞. ⠀ Even despite both being considered "healthy" approaches in the mainstream. ⠀  What’s more, there's also the fact that some people have allergies & intolerance towards certain foods 🐮🙅… ⠀ For some, high-quality dairy can provide a ton of health benefits. I still have my problems with food and often binge and self sabotage myself but I also feel as though I am growing. I actually enjoy going to the gym!! If you're overwhelmed about tackling fat loss / figuring out your daily calories, start by calculating your calorie deficit by using the below method - Multiply your goal body weight by 11-12 This number will give you an approximation of your daily calories to create a deficit Example 180 pounds x 11 = 1980 cals Meaning, if you want to lose 1-2 pounds a week, you need to eat around 1980 calories a day. It's important to remember that this is an oversimplification, and it doesn't represent a number that's going to be 100% accurate - this is fine because calculating exact calorie numbers is very difficult. Few things in life are purely black & white, and our food choices are no exception! ⠀ Some foods are more nutritious than others, but that doesn’t make them “good” and the other foods “bad.” ⠀ Anyways... ⠀ There's not even a one-size-fits-all definition for the terms "good food" and "bad food"... ⠀ For example, folks following a vegan diet vs. a paleo diet are going to have different views on the healthiness of certain foods like meat 🍖, nuts 🥜, and whole grains 🍞. ⠀ Even despite both being considered "healthy" approaches in the mainstream. ⠀  What’s more, there's also the fact that some people have allergies & intolerance towards certain foods 🐮🙅… ⠀ For some, high-quality dairy can provide a ton of health benefits. An unrelated selfie to give an update on my fitness goals⤵️ For a large portion of my life I had one fitness goal only: be as skinny as possible and convince myself I was growing a butt with it 😂 within the last few years I had let go of that goal and started to only workout because moving my body makes me feel good. I began to eat with the intentions of fueling my body, disassociated food from being “bad” or “good” but also not putting much thought or energy into any specific goal. For these past several years this is something I desperately needed; both mentally and physically. And in result I created a body that I am truly proud of and appreciate 💕. That being said though, after some thinking I believe I am finally ready to start working on a specific goal again and I am feeling v-good about it. 🤗 going to be slowly (and I mean sloooow) entering in these summer months shredding just a bit of fat to bring out those muscles I have (thankfully) put on over the years but also to just feel a bit more comfortable. nothing crazy, no strict diet or numbers, no two-a-day workouts, just subtle improvements to incorporate over the course of reaching a goal, being mindful and being consistent is all it has to take. I mean it’s out in the open now so I’m held accountable 😂 Should I share along with the process? 🤔 • Also just a reminder there is nothing wrong with wanting make a change for yourself physically as long as you remember to love yourself through it. Last week we started the series on fascia, myofascial release and what the purpose of fascia was. 2 days later I impinged a nerve in my shoulder. For the last week I've not slept great and been immobile when trying to flex and extend my cervical spine. Fast forward to today, a couple of days after using this and here we are mobility vastly improved, pain dramatically reduced and general well being significantly better. So I'm gonna share this, sponsor it and hopefully it can help a few others out who have debilitating injuries or for any athletes who put in serious miles but can't afford weekly sports massage or soft tissue treatment. DISCLAIMER: do not use these kinds of devices unless you're familiar with manual therapy and self massage I.e. foam rolling, myofascial balls, trigger point therapy and such. I didn't get a chance to post yesterday but I did weigh-in and it was quite disappointing. I was up 4.2 lbs, which I know isn't a TRUE gain but it is still discouraging when I went to the gym 4/7 days and didn't eat much. I struggled to find a balance between eating and not eating this past week. I know that + not drinking enough fluid caused me some set back. I have to find a healthy balance of not thinking of food all the time and putting it so far out of my mind that I am forgetting to eat and then making bad choices when I finally eat after many hours of not eating. I also put off getting my lab work done to recheck my thyroid so my medication can be adjusted. I finally did that yesterday though as I know I need to make even more of an effort to take care of myself. I'll have a YouTube video and or blog post up later this week talking about what's going on with me, but for now just know I am doing the best that I can and still working hard towards my goal :) Смотреть полностью

#progresstakestime - you hear this all the time and yet you find yourself unable to trust the process - you spend so much time worrying about whether or not you are making progress that it zaps you of energy that you could be using to stay on track. I personally found this analogy super helpful👇🏻 . . Let’s compare your fitness journey to a road trip you are going to take. You know it’s going to take a long time to get there but you know how to drive, how often to fill your gas tank and you have google maps to guide you. . . Your job, is to make sure the car has enough gas and regular maintenance/oil changes so it can keep driving, and to drive. . . Even though you aren’t 100% sure exactly how the engine of a car works, you trust that as long as you do your part, the car will do its job. Every time you get in the car you don’t sit there and stress about how exactly it’s all going to happen, you don’t pull over every 5 minutes to open the hood and stare at the parts in the engine just to make sure it’s working - even though it’s taking a long time to get there, you don’t worry about whether that means you’ll get there at all- you know that as long as you keep driving forward and paying attention to the road you will get there. . . Worrying too much about how exactly the car works, constantly stressing about potential accidents or future roadblocks, whether or not google maps is correct etc takes away from your ability to be a good driver. . . The same goes for progress in terms of your body - your job is to make sure it is well fuelled, to stay the course and follow direction. The more time you spend driving yourself crazy over the details of how exactly everything is going to work, wondering if maybe you’re the one person that proper fuel and movement doesn’t work for -the more time you spend pulled over on the side of the road because it’s taking too long, the more time you spend looking at how far you have left to go instead of how far you have come, the more time you spend wondering where everyone else is going -the less time and attention you have to spend on moving forward. . . 6 years apart in these photos 😊 #justkeepdriving Смотреть полностью
