Over the past several days I have had to really make myself aware of my thoughts. I had some experiences that were leading me to think a certain way. I have noticed myself “finding evidence” to support those thoughts. I’ve noticed myself getting upset over things I’ve let slide more easily in the past, and it’s because I’ve been using them as evidence to support the thoughts I’ve been having.
I’m fully aware we do this, yet it still happens to me too. I’m telling you so you can become aware too, and use it as an opportunity for growth, curiosity, exploration, and learning.
I’m not ignoring these thoughts and emotions. The emotions are real, but I am challenging my thoughts. Not all thoughts are true. These experiences and getting curious with the way I’ve been feeling are helping me to realize some things that are important to me that perhaps I haven’t communicated well. So, I’m going to continue to work through my thoughts and emotions and try to communicate better.
Can you recall a time when you’ve sought evidence to validate your thoughts? Did you know you can seek evidence to validate more supportive thoughts too? For example, rather than seeking evidence of all the ways you feel unappreciated at work, home, etc, you can search for evidence that you ARE appreciated. Honestly, this shift can make a world of difference in how you see certain situations. Raise your hand if you’re willing to try it out! Смотреть полностью
