โช๏ธTHE UGLY TRUTHโช๏ธ
We are in the process of moving right now. A very stressful situation for everyone including the dogs. So while I was loading boxes into the pod yesterday, I came inside to find that Wes has counter surfed for the first time ever since owning him. I've never had to worry about this with either of my dogs, so it was such a shock to see this sort of behavior. But it could just be from all of the commotion going on right now, or maybe my mother in law's carrot cake is THAT irresistible. (It really is I can't even deny it ๐คค) โช๏ธRegardless, this is unacceptable. Dogs can die from counter surfing and it's not a risk I am willing to take. What to do? I set him up, of course! He had to learn a lesson. So I put his raw meal on the very edge of the counter and waited. And waited some more... soon enough I caught him trying to take matters into his own hands again, and this time I corrected him with the e collar at a very high level to get my message across. He got the hint and immediately backed away. โช๏ธCall it what you like, but a moment of discomfort to my dog is a lot less invasive than a surgery for a blockage, or worse. The only way to proof your dogs obedience and manners are through real life situations-which means you will be setting them up for "failure"/SUCCESS from time to time. They won't ever learn unless you teach them right from wrong. Be the leader they need you to be.
