🌿🌿Bonus Challenge Day 23🌿🌿 . . Today’s challenge is to do BURPEES! Burpees are a full body workout, building strength and endurance, increasing heart rate, while improving balance and coordination. . . Starting in a standing position, do a squat and place your hands flat on the ground in front of you. . . Kick your feet back behind you into a plank position with arms extended and hips level with shoulders. . . Jump back into a squat position, then jump straight into the air with arms raised. . . Repeat 6-10 times. Take a 1 minute break then repeat for 3 sets in total. . . Advanced option? Add a push-up when in plank position before jumping back to a squat. Beginner? Skip the jump up when you stand.

Listening to my body this morning. I am struggling with fatigue at the moment and I am working hard to accept that it is just as important for me to take note of how I am feeling and take steps to self care and get through this phase. So there's been no training since Sunday and I am missing it. However I do know I've got to find my way past this and that starts with me. This morning I have spent some time thinking about how I am feeling, the triggers and how to make positive steps to reset this. I recognise that I haven't felt fully well since early December and I miss that, I miss my energy and I want it back. It's an honest picture of where I am, not always smashing my training. The world has taught us to think as health as a healthy body marked by the absence of physical disease. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 on the other hand tells us we are wholistic creatures made of spirit, soul & body where each part works with & affects the others. If there is trouble in one area, you can bet there is or will be trouble in the others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Autoimmune disease is an attack by the body's immune system on its own healthy tissues, which results in the destruction of those tissues and dysfunction of the organ/system. Likewise, self-rejection is a spiritual & mental attack on oneself characterized by self-hatred, self-accusation & self-condemnation, among many others. It is born out of a distorted understanding of one's identity, value, and acceptability. It results in chronic stress, guilt and shame and a host of other fleshly and sinful thinking and behaviors which only bear fruit for death, such as auto immune illness or other stress driven illnesses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Modern med has made wonderful strides in treating the symptoms of autoimmune illness. But we need to go deeper for true healing & health. Functional med, like I practice, is root cause medicine that corrects not only the physical root causes of auto immune illness, such as gut dysfunction and hormonal imbalance, but also the spiritual and soulical ones. Unless the rotten soulical & spiritual root of self-rejection is torn out & replaced with a root of godly self-love and acceptance, the disease will never be truly gone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That's ATN's mission: to help God's kids get to the rotten roots in their lives, especially in their health, so they can experience the abundant sanctified life Jesus died to give them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What about you? I'm so overwhelmed by the 14 Day Challenge launch. You guys are TOO much seriously 🤗 I realize there are a lot of you who are new to my page so I figure this was a perfect time to do a little re-intro and share a few things about me. I'd love for you to share something about you as well in the comments below👇🏼 • 1️⃣ I've been a personal trainer for over 10 years. I moved to L.A. after I graduated college with a BA in Psychology from Arizona State (Go Devils)! 2️⃣I struggled to find fitness after years of being an athlete. I was a competitive swimmer, gymnast, runner, and cheerleader. And yes....I did ALL those things for many years. Didn't dabble. Did all competitively. Injuries ultimately lead to the end of my competitive career but also forced me to go through lengthy rehab programs > which transitioned into fitness and finding what worked for me post athletic career. 3️⃣I used to hate running. I was a sprinter my entire life (100, 200, 4X100). If I so much as had to run a mile at practice - I shed tears LOL. IRONY - I am now a distance runner. I really found a love for it in college after losing a good friend. It became therapy and I never turned back. 4️⃣ I walked away from most of my in person training clients January of 2017 to launch my Kick-Ass Training Guides online. It was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life. To leave a consistent/steady income and try to reach MORE people with no guaranteed success (scary AF) - but best decision of my life. I share my journey often because it isn't glamorous at times. I don't have a fancy team or headquarters or even a house haha TRUTH. But I JUMPED both feet in because my heart was calling me to do that. 5️⃣I do my best to keep it authentic on here. Life isn't perfect. I will always motivate you but I do it on my terms. I don't want to have to filter stuff out. Yes, I'm known to drop a few F bombs here and there - But I feel good about it. I'll never share a skinny detox tea or waist trainer or shit I don't believe in. I care about you as if you were family. I have done 2 already! 🤔WEEK 1 : Set alarm an hour before I get up to take my Thyroid meds ( before, I was taking them with my morning coffee which lessons their effect) 🍷WEEK 2 (this week): 30 days no wine or alcohol. I’m a nightly red wine before bed kind of gal. I want to see if I see positive change after 30 days of nothing. What I already know from cutting down is even though it relaxes me (especially during pms), I sleep better w/o it. Having the freedom & flexibility to LIVE while on a health challenge ❤️ - Sitting in the car on the way back home after another weekend away 🚙 I’m feeling so grateful & proud for how far I’ve come. I’m currently doing my #50dayreenergisechallenge aimed to re-boost internally through nutrition, exercise & mindset. - A couple of years ago I wouldn’t have allowed myself to go away for two weekends in a row ❌ I would have told myself it was too much- in my mind I had to be home & in routine to be comfortable & stay ‘on track’ with nutrition & fitness goals. - To be honest I still have these thoughts BUT I also have the confidence to stand up to them & LIVE my life anyway!! - Some of my tips to go away AND stick to your goals include; 🔹 Prepare some healthy snacks/food to take with you so you have options. 🔸 Take your fitness gear & get out & explore- I went for a run this morning along the coastline 🏃🏼‍♀️ 🔹 Be yourself & stand up for yourself! I used to binge drink & eat shit just because everyone else did. Now I listen to what I want. If I really want something I have it, if I don’t really want it- I pass! 🔸 Have FUN! Instead of just sitting down all weekend we played card games, went to the beach, played backyard cricket & went fishing! 🔹 Carry a water bottle with you everywhere!! If I don’t keep hydrated I’m more likely to eat chips & unhealthy packet food that’s there just because...it’s there! - Implementing these things has meant I’ve had a great weekend with great company AND stuck to my personal goals. Previously I would have just had the weekend off my challenge & restarted Monday or not gone at all 👎🏻 - Yay to living in a more flexible & sustainable way that makes me HAPPY 🙌🏻 - What do you do to stay on track towards your goals AND live your life?
