I wanted to give some feedback to the Remedy Health and Wellness Challenge I was privileged  to join last spring. My goals were to expand my knowledge of nutrition, with the intent of eating for performance. I also wanted to have more insight of how my vegetarian lifestyle could become more balanced and dialed in for athletic performance. Lastly, I wanted accountability. I needed accountability and I wanted to connect with members of my gym and belong to an empowering group of people. I was overwhelmed with the wealth of knowledge that Kyla provided for each member and the group as a whole. Jason and Kyla both were professional, encouraging, supportive and knowledgeable individuals. The private page where our group could post daily on our victories, questions, encouragement and moments of struggles was a great way to have accountability and support. Kyla and Jason were actively involved everyday and available to answer any questions and provide daily information to help us all reach our goals. Did I really eat this?? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yes and it was awesome! 😋 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your first thought was probably, “HOW??” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍕There’s no way you can have abs and still eat pizza....well that’s partly true. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍕You can’t just eat pizza all the time and get abs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BUT you also don’t have to restrict yourself from some of the natural pleasures of life lol ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍕How can you have both? Still having pizza and a couple of drinks with the boys to watch the game? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣Look at your current diet over the last 3 days. What would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being 😱 and a 5 being 👨🏽‍🍳(be honest with yourself)? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2️⃣ If that rating is 3 and under, then I want you to focus on getting your normal healthy diet up to speed before thinking about all the junk food you can eat. Follow step 3 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Choose 3 days for next week that you want to dial in your eating. This means either making your lunch, cooking your dinner, or choosing the healthiest place near your office. Put those days your iPhone calendar as #ForMyFuturePizza. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4️⃣ If you can hit those 3 days perfectly for 3 weeks, on your fourth week go grab yourself some pizza on one of those 3 days 👌🏾 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (I like 3s 🤷🏾‍♂️) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍕Your next challenge awaits! Wow, can you believe it's Thursday already?? Today's Three Minute Thursday is something near to my heart, and something I practice every single morning. At some point today, can you spend three minutes listing out things you're grateful for? It can be anything- from the sun shining after so much rain, or maybe a positive change in your health. Research suggests that "people who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems" so in my opinion, these three minutes (especially daily!) are among the most impactful parts of your whole day!

Take this as your daily PSA to take SOME time, however short, to work on you and your mental and physical health. ❤️ —————— I was feeling so guilty about not working out for a whole week (because somehow when I got leaner from London I have this mental pressure to keep getting skinnier, which is WRONG!), until @feelfitfactory UTTERLY broke me down. 🙂🙏🏻 It was 1.5 hours of feeling my chest about to cave in that I realized how much stress and strain I’ve been putting my body through NOT working out. Crazy right? I realized when I take time to work out I’m MAKING time to train, to do good to my body. But when I don’t workout, when I stress eat, when I don’t sleep enough and I feel like shit - I know I’m not treating myself well at all. Sometimes all it takes is to flip the script to give yourself a reason to take breaks and go to that class or just sit down to meditate. Ahhh, the more you know. —————— Also shout out to the instructor (sorry I forgot to ask your name and it took too long and it became weird. But it was such a good workout, I learnt so much! Can’t wait to come back with @zarahtang 🤗) #休息是為了走更長的路

Over the weekend I was tagged in a post by @rideoutlyme about the power of #support. As devastating & soul-sucking as #lymedisease can be, being part of the #lymecommunity means being part of one of the most beautiful & mighty displays of love & support I have ever witnessed. When one of us has a flare-up or is down & out the other “Lymies” quickly gather around to lift that person up. It is an amazing family that, though usually virtual, gets what you are going through like nobody else can. This beautiful lotus was a gift from the truly amazing @ladyoflyme after she had organized donations for another family struggling with Lyme…when I donated she insisted on sending me a “Thank You” gift. Who does that when they themselves are working hard just to get through each day? I’ll tell you who…a Loving Lymie. ✨🤝👭💚👫🔗👬🙏🏼✨ #socialconnection & #relationships are one of the #wellness pillars of #functionalmedicine, so I talk about it quite a bit. Here is a slice of what I shared during my talk this weekend: "A crucial reminder the @bluezones research & one of the longest studies on adult human life (from Harvard) teaches us is the importance of relationships & #socialsupport...& what can #chronicillness do? Isolate us. Face-to-face connection is ideal, but it’s not always possible for those struggling everyday. Finding a buddy, accountability partner, or #healthcoach that you can connect with by phone or computer can really help. Seek out someone who has been through a similar #healthchallenge & gotten well, so you know it’s possible. Fix your focus on that proof & check-in with them for #encouragement. I would highly recommend STAYING AWAY from message boards, because though there can be some useful nuggets, they are mostly "worst case" stories & full of people who, sadly, are not making progress. When I first checked them out I immediately felt my anxiety & heart rate skyrocket. Your # 1 job in #healing or maintaining wellness is keeping yourself OUT of fight-or-flight!” ✨🧘🏽‍♀️💕🧘🏽‍♂️✨ 👇🏼Continued below👇🏼

CHALLENGE: A Salad a Day starts today 🥗it's day 1 out of 14 where we have at least one salad a day! Why? It's a great way to get in more of the goods while leaving less room for things that don't support you! Make them all raw or at least half raw for the most nutrient dense bang for your buck! I like to do all raw except a few roasted veggies or mushrooms on top! 🍄TOPPERS I like are mushrooms, roasted veggies, shredded carrots or beets, tomatoes, etc. 🥑HEALTHY FATS I like are avocado, tahini, nuts, olives! 🍅HEALTHY PROTEIN SOURCES I usually use are nuts and seeds or fish but feel free to add in some beans, legumes, grains, meats, eggs, or tempeh if those work for you! 🌶That's what I love about salads, they're so customizable!
