Pre period inflammation leading to PMS and more.
Inflammation is an immune response which when done appropriately does wonders for our bodies. When left un checked can cause havoc on our bodies locally and systemically.
A study which was published in the Journal of Womens health suggest that Premenstrual mood symptoms, abdominal cramps/back pain, appetite cravings/weight gain/bloating, and breast pain, but not headache, appear to be significantly and positively related to elevated hs-CRP levels, a biomarker of inflammation.
Clinically what I see is the Pre period inflammation have a global affect on the body. When I see clients for period pain I often ask about old or current injuries and how they are feeling a week out. 9/10 my client will say โyou know what, itโs really been playing up this week, or itโs really gotten worse!โ. This indicates that work needs to be done on both a local level, the injury and a systemic level, whole body via acupuncture, herbs, nutrition and lifestyle.
๐นDe stress more often.
๐นBe kind to your Gut.
๐นGet enough sunlight and sleep.
Chronic pain in any form is a symptom of something deeper.
