While it has been almost a year since I began to call Bangalore home, trying to explore and discover as much as possible, I love knowing that there are so many stories, moments, his/herstories, and vignettes still waiting to spring out at me when I least expect it. Yesterday, after buying flowers, fruit, and vegetables from a nearby market, I decided to take an alternative route back home. Turning the bend, I was rewarded with this curious sight of paintings, mirrors, photographs, and more arranged against the wall, soaked in that gorgeous mead-warm afternoon light. My head full of antiques ever since I returned from Pondicherry, I wondered as if the two worlds had somehow momentarily merged! I had walked this street several times before but never seen this sight before. It always makes me think that it is the seemingly quotidian and mundane around us which often possess the most surprises to present to us. When we travel, we anticipate such surprises almost as if by default, the experience of traveling synonymous with the act of wonderment and discovery. But oh, what joys there are to be had, becoming tourists in our cities, seeing everything anew, not unlike that of a child seeing the sea for the first time in his or her life.
Thank you so much @scatteredpoems_ for your kind words for this image which was an insta-story, making me think more deeply about it! 💕💕
