at the orthotics clinic waiting for our measurements to be taken.
we're aware for some time now (thanks to ig) that some kids with DS wear ankle braces and knew we may need it but really haven't looked into it. when Reed was starting to show signs of walking we asked for a PT evaluation and she recommended getting ankle support for Reed, and so the doctor prescribed ankle braces, this was in April. if i had questions back then i have already forgotten about it, basically i didn't think about it much -- wasn't worried.
but today as i sat there listening to the orthotist explaining the need for this device and prospects for the future (nothing grim, only that she doesn't know how long we'll need this) i couldn't help but let worry creep in a little bit. this wasn't terrible if you looked at the bigger picture, but it certainly felt like another obstacle was just placed in our way, and man does that suck.
