Lots of new friends from the @iheartmacros #ihmloveyourbody Challenge and it’s been awhile since I shared my story. Since Sunday is all about gratitude so there’s no better day. See that top right picture there? That’s my foot after an emergency delivery of our fourth child and reconstructive surgery plates and pins following a simple fall. And I AM SO GRATEFUL for that day. That was the turning point of my life. That was the day a doctor said I’d never run again. Not that I ever wanted to run... or had even EVER run. But it lit a fire in me. I went on to have 4 more surgeries, another baby, and another surgery. This summer I will have yet another surgery, because I am among the thousands of women with TVT-O mesh complications and injuries. And do you know where you’ll see me next year? Right where I am now. Stronger than ever. Because as long as God gives me the ability no one can tell me I can’t. Its never been about being skinny. It’s about being strong and healthy for my beautiful babies. There is nothing more beautiful than proving to yourself just how strong you are. And I am so grateful for that chance Every. Single. Another busy weekend in the books! 🙌🏼 Just made my breakfasts for the week. I am loving this egg loaf in the mornings. It’s super easy to make and tastes great! I heat it up each morning and eat it with a little sugar free syrup. What is your favorite quick keto breakfast? Recipe: 8 eggs 4 oz cream cheese 4 T butter Bake at 350° for 40 mins Blend all ingredients together with a hand mixer, bake in a pan lined with parchment paper. “You’ve had thyroid and autoimmune issues and you still eat dairy?”⁣ ⁣ Uhmmm, yup, and almost daily. ⁣ ⁣ Yes, there’s research claiming some things anti dairy. And then there’s also research proving how beneficial some dairy can be for the body. ⁣ ⁣ Once I stopped mentally telling myself that dairy was making sick, I seemed to handle it just fine. I do only stick to grass fed and then raw cheese for the most part, but it’s still part of my daily and I don’t have any issues with it. ⁣ ⁣ So just remember, there’s always claims for and against everything. Find what works for you and stop fearing certain foods just because you read a few studies claiming one thing. Science and nutrition is so complex, but so simple at the same time. We’ve got to stop over thinking it.⁣ ⁣ Also, shout out to @organicvalley for hooking me up with some raw cheddar cheese. Unless you take a Pre-Workout meal/snack about 2-4 hours before you hit the gym then I would say it would be digested properly. That’s speaking from my experience. I wanted to get more input on what other people get from just taking carbs a hour or 30 minutes before they get a workout in. I'm here to discuss about the process and how it won't be linear. Even for someone like myself who is tracking on a daily basis. - I'm not here to bullshit you on weight/fat loss. I also was able to find some amazing collagen peptides at @homegoods – living a fit and healthy lifestyle doesn’t always need to be bougie/expensive!! Grocery Do’s and Don’ts: * Do make a list - and follow it! I always allow one thing off my list as a treat (today it was the vegan kale pesto that I have yet to try) but no more * Do shop by meal. This way you’re not buying snacks, desserts, or miscellaneous veggies that are gonna just go bad in your fridge * Don’t go shopping hungry! Never a good idea... * Do read labels. Look for added sugar (and its nicknames), creams and oils, etc. in things like sauces, dressings, spreads and premade food * Don’t just grab the first thing you see. What keeps my bill down is comparing items to one another - “this almond butter is $2 more but it’s literally the same as the cheaper one? Store brand it is” (at Trader Joe’s this is less of a problem but even checking organic vs non is helpful) * Don’t get a large cart if you’re only grabbing a few things. A basket will keep you from overdoing it since it gets heavier 😉 * Don’t overbuy fresh produce. I HATE food waste. Being practical and thoughtful in the produce section will prevent you from throwing things out on Thursday or Friday. Ask yourself, “am I really gonna eat this every day? As a living organism, one of the body’s main functions is to regulate itself. Temperature, blood pressure and bodyweight are two perfect examples of this. The process of maintenance is called homeostasis. The purpose of homeostasis is the maintenance of a stable internal temperature and environment that enables the systems in the body, specifically, metabolism, to work to maximum efficiency. Metabolism is the process of how much energy the body absorbs, uses and stores to maintain itself. Homeostasis is needed for the metabolism to work efficiently and a healthy metabolism is one method the body uses to maintain homeostasis. This explains why we shiver in the cold, sweat in the heat, get less active when we diet, and increase movement and activity when we have more food. Research done in the past indicates that the ‘setpoint’ of a person is influenced by a number of factors that happen during critical periods of development since their inception. There are various life stages where our ‘setpoint’ can change such as fetus, immediately after birth, puberty and pregnancy. This also explains why an individual’s exercise and dieting history is important when considering how successful they will be with maintaining weight loss. When you go on a diet or a calorie deficit your body responds by decreasing your metabolic rate, as well as increasing appetite and this makes it more harder to lose over time, and the risk of regaining the weight becomes greater. This is called metabolic adaptation. Some things you can do to assist in countering metabolic adaptation are as follows: - Carb Cycling or Refeeds - Diet Breaks - Don’t follow cookie cutter diets - Avoid overly aggressive prolonged calorie deficits - Don’t always diet - Spend More Time at Maintenance - Lift Weight Often Take care of your metabolism because it’s the main driver of your results. Back offs were 6x4 with 3pl8s - this is the easiest this weight has felt for reps. Deadlifts really showed up today. 495 aka 5pl8s for a single @7.5 /8 - undoubtedly the fastest/easiest this weight has ever moved. Back offs were 4x3@6 , last set with 425 feeling i8 but tired. A day in the life of my macros! I’m really starting to love the puzzle piece 🧩 aspect of planning my meals and week and I wanted to share! Now typically I have my carbs in the form of sweet potatoes 🍠 and fruit, like pineapple,🍍 but it was a movie marathon day so I subbed in some yummy (and still filling) popcorn 🍿 1) I start the day off with a SHIT ton of water. You get dehydrated overnight, give your bod what it WANTS baby! 2) Waffle made from vital wheat gluten (24g vegan protein yo!) plus a bit of almond butter for that satiating fat 🤤 3) Barbecue tofu salad with yogurt ranch 😍 4) An entire red pepper 5) MOVIE TREATS! Had a movie marathon with #rideordie @lilithca5tl3 and I wanted snacks so I PLANNED FOR EM. 6) @traderjoes Cauliflower Gnocchi (this stuff is the TITS YO) with @lightlifefoods “chicken” tenders 7) Cottage cheese! I did the first 10k 5 minutes faster than I did 2 weeks ago which I think is pretty solid 🤷🏼‍♀️ —— 6.2 mi (10k) was 55:22 8mi was 1:12:20 —— It’s still so wet outside and there are a lot of really icy patches.
