Leg day at home! ——- 1. Bulgarian split squats - use a surface that’s approximately the height of your knees or slightly higher. Make sure when you go down that your knee stays over your ankle and not far past your toes. Some wiggle room for those of you with long legs. Focus on pushing up with your heel and not your toes to avoid strain on the knees. 2. Wall sit - 90 degree angles are the goal! Sit your weight on your heels for glutes, more on your toes for quads. Use 15 second intervals for progression. 3. Calf raises - use a wall for stability to avoid the ankle wobble. Try to keep your heels from coming all the way down to maintain tension. 4. Romanian deadlifts - different from regular deadlifts because you don’t place the weight on the ground for every rep. For weights you can use something like a sturdy grocery bag and books to adjust! Keep your core tight, slight bend in the knees, stick your booty out as you bend to stretch the hamstrings and squeeze your glutes in as you come up! 5. Squats - use weights or just bodyweight as needed. Feet shoulder width apart, your toes slightly out, gaze slightly down. Push your knees out to avoid internal rotation (the knee buckle), and try to keep the weight in your heels. Core should always be tight, and if your lower back starts to hurt, don’t go down as far! —— Stay tuned for core and upper body movements! Working out is amazing because it can give you a refreshing burst of mental energy. After I work out, I either get a creative idea or the motivation to get a ton of stuff done. I’ve heard other people say this as well. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It makes me think about fitness from a different lens. If we receive mental energy from working out, what else can we receive it from? Nutrition. Let's talk about this! What are your thoughts on the leg press machine? Do you think it's useful or a complete waste of time? Please explain your answer. My opinion- well as I do believe there is no replacement for barbell squats, I do use the leg press every leg day. Prevents injury Low impact to Provides a variety of leg placement to target different areas. Starting point for someone to gain the strength fo move up to squats. Can be used to train calves. Quick weight change for progressive overload, drop sets, and pyramid training. Helps break plateau in squat training. And many other benefits. And for Today’s workout - 4,300 feet in elevation gain, 9 miles, lots of steps, lots of catching my breath, and lots of sunshine and mountain air. • Today I completed my 13th “fourteener”, (Mountain in Colorado over 14,000 ft in elevation) and summitted my 15th. The top of Mt. Yale, elevation 14,196, was gorgeous with clear blue skies. Made all the hard work worth it! • I haven’t always loved a physical challenge. 10 years ago I would give up and think of every excuse. I wasn’t athletic at all! I learned that we are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. What do you do if you don't have time to go to the gym and workout? . My initial response to this would be, what are your priorities? Instead I will advise you on what you can do, to stay active if you are unable to get to the gym. . The following tips are simple and free of cost. . 1 Take the stairs instead of the lift. This is one of the best forms of movement. You will build muscle as well as burning extra calories. 2 Get off your bus or tube a stop early. If you travel via public transport, instead of letting this take you right to your door step, allow an extra 10-15 minutes and get off the stop prior to where you actually need to go. 3 Do household chores. You can make your cleaning into a workout routine, sweep faster and scrub the dishes harder to work those muscles. 4 Do 250 steps every hour. Something as simple as going to the toilet, or filling up your water bottle can add to your steps. The recommended number of steps a day is 10,000, so get those in, whatever way possible. 5 Dont sit on the sofa. If you love to watch your evening soaps, why not during the ad breaks, do squats, lunges, planks etc. If you have weights at home, add these to your exercises. This can easily turn into a 15-20 minute workout without leaving the comfort of your own home. . Got creative with the sliding discs and adding a medicine ball or resistance band to an old exercise can bring you new levels of difficulty ...and sometimes pain.😆Got 3 sets of each out of myself but that last exercise should have come first. That’s a new one and the sets were rather short. These last few days of training I've just really really been thinking about the future and how I'm going to train and what I'm going to focus on! I'm honestly just super excited to get done with these last few days of dieting - don't get me wrong dieting and leaning out is a lot of fun! ✔️ . But for me lately it feels like I've spent too many months just yo-yo ing' between putting on weight really fast and then having to diet back down. It's all just been unplanned and super haywire! 😣 . From August 1st I'm going to spend atleast the next 6 months just focusing on adding some muscle, without too much fat gain. I'm going to focus on really getting stronger than I ever have been and just really bringing up my physique🙏 .
