A Michigan mother wants the Flint Police Department taken out of elementary schools in her city. She recently filed a lawsuit against the city of Flint after a school officer handcuffed her 7-year-old son with ADHD.
The incident happened back in 2018 during an afterschool program, according to The Associated Press. The federal lawsuit claims he was handcuffed for about an hour for kicking a cart and running around the bleachers. The suit is claiming that police violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the U.S. Constitution, and now she’s seeking monetary damages and for the actions to be declared unlawful.
"When I walked in, he just jumped up and started crying," his mom Chrystal McCadden said during a news conference. She went on to say that the officer didn’t even have a key for the handcuffs and was supposedly waiting for it to be brought by another officer.
