Consistency is something I hate to admit that I have trouble with! Self image is also something I struggle with... . . I was that girl that wouldn’t eat at school because I didn’t want people to watch me. I was afraid of what they would think if they saw me eating. Little did I know my eating habits weren’t important to anyone but me...I was so afraid to be judged and made fun of. . . I grew up and the eating thing didn’t bother me anymore. Except then I was worried when I was working out people would think what’s the point for you anyway?...You see I’ve always been a “thick” girl. And growing up that can be hard. Trying to stick with healthy habits is hard when you are hard on yourself. . . When I had two girls I realized I didn’t want them to feel the way I felt. So I needed to change. I am ALWAYS working on being a healthy example in all ways; mentally, emotionally, physically. . . I remind myself not to care what others think. I’m working to impress myself and work on a better ME! A workout program seems like just a workout program, but this new one I’ve been doing comes with a book. A journal for you to fill out everyday after your workout. I’m working on my physical self, but never before have I worked on my thought process in connection like this before and it’s showing me different things I haven’t noticed before. . . So it’s embarrassing to have to post this picture today.....as it is the millionth time I’ve told myself I’m starting to take control of my health and fitness since there birth of my last child.... 1 whole YEAR ago!!! I’m new here, not to fitness. 3/4 years ago I was in the best shape I’d ever been in. I had my nutrition under control and was a regular at the gym, pushing myself and surprising myself by my strength. Fast forward to today. I have had 2 babies, let go of all controls surrounding my nutrition...haven’t stepped foot in a gym...attempting at home workouts but realizing I am SOO out of shape I give up! What brings me here today? Well it’s been 12 months...I’m the HEAVIEST I’ve ever been in my life! I find myself so close to number on the scale I swore I’d never reach and yet here I am 10 pounds away from number! I’m 30 pounds heavier than I was when I first got pregnant over 3 years ago! And the worst part is.....I’ve had 13 months to get my shit together and kept giving up because the work is F***ing hard! But the reality of the situation is...if I don’t start NOW I’ll never get anywhere! If I don’t do the hard F***ing work, I won’t get anywhere! So I am here today, in front of you all (whoever is out there to read/see) to say that I am going to do the F***ing hard work, I am going to work for myself, my health, going to stop F***ing complaining and start doing shit!!! When you stay in your comfort zone, you hold yourself back. You hold yourself back from activity, GROWTH, and development . . . Y’all, our great God did NOT design us to stay comfortable and stifle our growth. He designed us to live FULLY and ABUNDANTLY! “Must be nice to be so small.” . This statement has haunted me most of my adult life, yet I hear it all the time. {ad} a statement I’m sure is meant to be a compliment, (in some sort of weird way) irks me to my core. To imply that my physical appearance just HAPPENS, without effort or hard work, is a slap in the face. You see, I work every single day to take care of my body. Not just the outer appearance, but my overall health and wellness. Six days a week I’m working out without fail. My nutrition hardly EVER strays from good, Whole Foods, and there’s almost never a day I just “fall off the rails” and eat anything and everything I want. Part of it may be my history with body dysmorphia and eating disorders so perhaps I’m still slightly stuck in my head always trying to be “perfect,” but most of it is because I genuinely LOVE working on myself. After two kids, a ninety pound combined weight gain, plus a long struggle with postpartum depression, wanting to feel good about myself is number one. So I do something about it, and you can too. Self-love is EVERYTHING, but so is spreading love. So instead, let’s try, “wow your hard work is paying off.” 🤷🏻‍♀️ . I don't do yoga I do however stretch regularly & make one session per week about focus, core & balance work Ive been asked often if I do yoga, and I'm about to piss alot of people off with my reply but in fairness, hear me out I don't believe in trends, fads, new diets, celery juice cleanses etc. I believe in movement I believe in flexibility I believe in strength I believe in endurance I believe in doing a combination of everything because you gain the entire package of overall health only when you incorporate ALL forms of training. Your body, both internally & externally, physically & spiritually should not compete for importance.... They are all equally important. So to say you exercise, and what you mean by that is yoga, I would argue..... With facts as to what you are missing. Buttttt, as I am more a pro bodybuilder, when that was all that I did, I tighten up to the point I could barely touch my toes. I don't believe in balance in life.... It is meant to go up and down, fast, slow, but I do believe in balance in exercise. One are without another and you are missing out on many benefits My priority list of importance: 🔸Muscle - to support our skeleton & to obviously stay standing oh & heart health 🔸 Stretch - for movement fluidity & of course dancing 🔸 Cardio - heart health, endurance & to sweat The bonus to doing a little bit of everything not alot of one thing... J-O-U-R-N-E-Y⁣ Definition: a long and often difficult process of personal change and development.⁣ ⁣ The phrase "health journey" used to make me cringe. Not anymore. ⁣ I'm going to OWN IT. ⁣ I am proud of the journey I am on. It has been difficult and has been a long process. ⁣ ⁣ It has brought tears of frustration and joy, it has brought knowledge, power, strength. ⁣ ⁣ It has helped me through post partum. Isn’t postpartum life glamorous?! These photos are from the day after Ridley was born and today, 11 days postpartum. There is no such thing as “bouncing back”. My uterus shrunk back unbelievably quickly but I still look 4 months pregnant. My belly is taped in the second photo because I have pretty severe #diastasisrecti this time around and my abdominals just don’t function right now. I gained about 35lbs this pregnancy- a little more than with Jasper but still a healthy amount. It doesn’t just fall off. It takes time. It takes effort every day to make healthy choices. It takes regular exercise (once you are cleared by your doctor!). It took 9 months to grow this baby and gain that weight. We need to remember to be patient and kind to ourselves in our postpartum journey. Taking care of yourself, fueling your body with healthy foods and plenty of water and getting enough sleep (as much as is possible with a new baby anyway...) is what’s important. And sometimes a girl needs a simple dinner and spaghetti 🍝 😂 Yesterday, I grilled a few romaine lettuces drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and seasoned with salt and pepper. The spaghetti was made with @barillaitalia ragú sauce and @dececco_pasta. I still seasoned the ragú sauce to satisfy my palate by sautéing a couple of diced garlic cloves, 1/2 diced onion, and some oregano in olive oil. Then, I add some salt and pepper to taste and let the sauce boil for a few minutes before adding the pasta. Sometimes, when you have a busy day, you make a semi-homemade dinner, which is totally fine. . . . By the way, I was still hungry so I had the second half of the romaine lettuce. Day 2: discomfort. I can’t decide which is worse: the physical discomfort or the mental discomfort. I’m pretty frustrated with myself. 8 months ago 60+ minutes of much more difficult exercise would have been so easy. Today 30 minutes was really hard. If I had kept up my routine, this would have been a joke of a workout. I didn’t stop working out because it was physically hard, I stopped because it was easy and I felt like the hard work was done. Indulgence is easier. Numbing is easier. Quitting is easier. I’m not about easy anymore. Easy never made me more fulfilled or happy. It has been the key to internal and emotional growth Learning new skills, adapting to change and learning to be vulnerable is what will give us the highest reward and strength I took up boxing a couple years ago with my girls. Out of every sport, class etc that I have ever tried, boxing was one of my faves for leaving it out on the table There's something to be said about hitting something 😳 Rebelle Fit will have bags & gloves🙌🏽 and as I am know professional fighter, we will be incorporating boxing as part of our conditioning workouts..... So... if you guys don’t know yet, I’m doing this challenge of 100 workouts. 👍🏼 I’ve just finished 10 workouts and so far I’ve been loving it which is always a bonus when you’re doing some sort of a workout out!😁 Don’t you think?! 😉 . So 10 out of 100 and we’ve got kind of an idea of what to expect (maybe😬) of how the workouts are going to be. At least the categories are going to be the same (10) but I imagine it’s going to be more challenging as we progress. You never know! But I’m having so much fun and so much sweat it doesn’t really matter to me! 😂 🙌🏼 . It's not you, it's me. I have quite a few unexcused absences from this account and it is about time I accepted some responsibility. It is really difficult for me to admit failure. As an educator and a parent, I am forever preaching the inevitability and importance of failure. That being said, it does not make it any easier to admit when you dropped the ball. I have not gained back all of the weight I lost, but quite a bit of it. Far worse than that is I lost focus, direction, and a whole lot of confidence. I have a very indulgent personality and I love very little more than rewarding myself with something that will bring me short term joy or even a short term numbness to long term problems. On Saturday I went rock climbing with my family and a friend and I’ve talked about it almost nonstop since. It made me really happy. I felt accomplished, and even though I am definitely not in great shape, I had a fun time and I wasn't thinking about how I looked or who was watching. I just wanted to climb and have fun. It had a long term effect on me. I realized that I need to start doing things that bring me long term joy and stop indulging and numbing and start seeking out what makes me happy long term. This story is ongoing. I have a lot more to say, a lot more to unpack. But for today I am here. I did a workout that was not my favorite but after I felt good. I ate things that will make me feel good for a long time, not just for a few minutes. I am on a new mission to figure out what exactly makes ME happy, and I hope you will join me. You cant help people if you try comfort them with lies 🤥🤐 It's like telling a overweight person their only over weight because of their Gene's. At the end of the day obiesty is a massive killer it messes people up internally, no matter how much they pretend they're happy. I speak to people that are overweight on a daily basis now and the same story is emerging. They suffer with stress, lack of energy, lack of confidence, thier unhappy, dont like what they see in the mirror, loss of connection with family and relashionship break downs. My job is to fix this symptom and I do it very well I rather hurt someone's feelings with the truth than bullshit them into depression. If you have a friend who has a bit of food on their mouth do you tell them or do you let them save that food for later ? Of course you don't it's hard telling them but it's just the right thing to do. Obiesty is the second biggest cause of cancer in the u.k. I can relate to this as its hit my family hard recently 🤬 Other causes of obiesty, type 2 diabetes, mood disorders, kidney disease, fatty liver disease, pregnancy problems, sleep disorders, stroke, heart disease. Are you obese and not bothered still ? Well consider this have you got kids ? What do they do naturally do they pick up on your habits ? Would you like them to pick up the symptoms you've got ? Of course not that's why YOU should lead by example. Will this give you the courage to take ACTION ? This might not be a popular post and will lose a few followers as a lot of people will run away from the truth.
