I have so much respect for those of you that bake your own breads in order to say no to plastic packaging!๐ When the semester ends and I have a tiny bit more time, I think Iโll try out some simple bread recipes but until then, zero waste bread has been something that Iโve struggled to find. .
Between work and school, I canโt realistically see myself baking my own bread whenever I need it, so thatโs out of the question. I do have a few bakeries around me, but as a working college student, Iโm not about to drop $7+ dollars on a loaf of bread every other week. I also want to still be able to buy breads that arenโt all artisan type loaves (sometimes I just want plain olโ whole wheat๐). Iโve even considered dropping bread from my life completely but that was a little too sad of a thought for me to handle. .
So, while I was at @panerabread today to do some homework, I picked up a few bakery items and while I still brought them home in a paper bag, I felt it was better than the alternative plastic bag. They were also cheaper than I expected which I always love๐
So, here is a potential solution to my carb crisis! I have my bread wrapped in a clean kitchen towel right now but did save a plastic bread bag to store it in after I slice into it. .
I had to ask the worker to not wrap my bread in plastic so if you make this swap, watch out for that! .
