I eat the sweets and love the treats and this meal plan allows me to do just that! 🙏 thank you @autumncalabrese For your amazing program to help keep food delicious AND to keep us healthy and on track with our goals. . . There's nothing more frustrating to me than someone telling me no... I proceed to prove them wrong. This is a shake turned into a pudding. 😱 I'm calling it, #eatyourshakes 🙌 isnt it so wonderful to eat pudding, cake or any form of dessert for breakfast and not set back your results and still reach goals? It feels like negativity just lifts from your shoulders.... in my case the anxiety from my mind. 😄 the funny part? I still feel guilty for "eating dessert" for breakfast Haha but once I remind myself it's still good for me this way, I dont feel as bad🤷‍♀️ . . I have gone through years and years of yo-yo dieting but I have never been genuinely happy with the way I felt about myself. I was never consistent with a healthy lifestyle due to the lack of accountability. I would starve myself for an upcoming vacation or event and then afterwards just go back to my old ways. Binge eating and drinking excessively every single night to numb the fact that I was unhappy with myself. Not being consistent with my workouts until the next upcoming vacation. And it would start all over again. I thought that I could do hardcore cardio and then eat anything I wanted because hey, I was doing cardio! The girl on the left was the result of that fiasco. The girl that was trying to hide the fact that she carried extra weight in her face by wearing tons of makeup. A little over a year ago, I came across a transformation post that I saw of a woman who had amazing postpartum results. I started following her and pretty soon she became so inspiring that I had to find out more. I have been using Beachbody for over a year but now is the time that I take this leap and start helping others myself. 80 Day Obsession opened my eyes to a whole new meaning of health, nutrition and genuine happiness. I want to do for others what that woman in the post (now my coach) has done for me. I want to help others achieve goals that they think are too far fetched but are like me and just need a little information and inspiration.Not just a physical transformation but mentally and emotionally. I believe that we are all obligated to pay forward everything that brings value to our lives and that’s what I’d love to do for you. I’m not talking about a diet or a quick fix that only lasts a short time. I’m not talking about deprivation or starving yourself. I’m talking about a lifestyle that helps you become the BEST and HEALTHIEST version of yourself-for a lifetime. You look at the ingredients label on your superfood shake and you see "200mg of spinach" and you might think wow that sounds like a lot!⁣ ⁣ But really, it isn't. In fact, it's the exact opposite: it's minuscule.⁣ ⁣ See, this is a leaf of spinach pictured above. It weighs 1g, or 1,000mg.⁣ ⁣ 200mg is .02g (or 1/5th) of the spinach leaf above (maybe a little more to account for dehydration but not by a lot...). ONE-FIFTH OF A SPINACH LEAF.⁣ ⁣ This is a really accurate example of how marketing tries to trick us into thinking something is "so good" for us when in fact it isn't all it's cracked up to be and may not be worth the cash you're forking over (pun!) to become healthier.⁣ ⁣ Tbh, you can get more nutrition from a few bites of fresh greens than with any greens powder.⁣ ⁣ Granted, there's nothing wrong with consuming greens powders if you don't have access to fresh fruits and veggies (or maybe your toddler refuses anything green and so you try to sneak veggie powder into their juice sometimes *cough cough*). Sure in the short term you will get results, but do you see yourself living that way/eating that way/restricting that way FOREVER? 🙅‍♀️ (I feel like the kid on sandlot FOOOOORRRREEEVVVVVVEEERRR- to all my 90’s lovers out there) 🤷‍♀️ In fact, research suggests (and I’m all about RESEARCH) that 95% of people who diet end up gaining the weight back they lost. And of that 95%  around two thirds will gain back more weight than where they started (Say, what?!?). 🤓 Even more research shows us that weight cycling (losing weight, gaining weight, repeat) is more harmful long term than just staying overweight. Some studies suggest that dieting is actually a predictor of weight gain. 👩‍💻 The media loves to feed us all sorts of information in January that makes us feel the need to diet/try a new approach/we are one product away from true transformation. No time for breakfast in the morning? . Time management is a huge barrier for many of us, myself included! The last two weeks have been manic with early morning starts, meetings, consultations, and multiple attempts to put together research proposals, that I’ve been slacking on the food prep front. . Skipping breakfast and living off coffee can only work for so long and I’ve noticed that the dreaded 3pm slump becomes a wall. Rather than bouncing back, I’ve been crashing. Lacking concentration which ultimately results in decreased productivity. So those minutes that I “saved” by skipping breakfast aren’t actually saved at all. Instead, I spend more time being counterproductive at the end of my day. . Moral of the story: Make time to feed yourself and fuel yourself. Now I know what some of you might be thinking, #carbs 😱 But I’ll let you in on a little secret... they taste amazing and like all other macronutrients in isolation, don’t make you fat! . So many of my patients ask if it is okay to eat fruit because of its carbohydrate or sugar content. Alternatively, some patients attempt to eat their fruit in capsule form to avoid the carbs altogether. 😩😩😩 why though!!!!???? . Unless you have an underlying health condition that requires tighter regulation of dietary carbohydrates, you are doing yourself a disservice by removing fruit from your diet. Apart from carbs, fruit in whole form contains a number of vitamins and minerals and almost more importantly, contains fibre!! Something that most people are lacking do to the extraordinary amount of readily available processed foods that inundate our shops. No fibre = no 💩 and that’s not great in any situation. . IT’S MY ANNIVERSARY!!! ONE YEAR AGO TODAY I began my journey to being pain free!! This required me to begin with weight loss. I might not be today where I wanted to be after a year, but I’m happy I’m not back to where I WAS!! February 26, 2018 I made it through the first day of staying within my point range on Weight Watchers. I’ve told the story before about how I made it through breakfast, then struggled choosing the right food at lunch. Around 3 or 4p I called Emily to ask how much I had to lose to be approved for my hip surgery. Her sweet simple words, “You can do it! I believe in you!” motivated me to keep going. It hasn’t been easy. You’ll see from the picture of the calendar that each month it differed how much I lost. Some months were amazing and some months I just struggled. I didn’t give up though and that makes me so proud!! I would weigh even though I knew I had gained. I felt like it kept me honest and aware of what I was doing to myself. I have been so blessed to have so many people in my life to encourage me and keep me motivated. Thank you to all of you!! I will continue on this road to being pain free and making sure I get stronger and healthier. I’m sad that I don’t have a picture from February when I started, but of course I didn’t really want to see myself anyway. So, I used a picture from a couple of months earlier from my birthday. Made sure my pictures today were unfiltered! LOL. With the husband away for work, the threat of a cyclone hovering over the Gold Coast and with so many new and exciting things happening on the work front, I have been more than a little slack on the exercise front. #guilty . Thing is... I spend a lot of time organising, coordinating and investing in my work and clients that 9 times out of 10, I prioritise me last. I almost always forgo my own self care rituals to make sure I do a little bit extra and give a little more. . For me, exercise is a way to decompress. I don’t exercise to lose weight or look a certain way and I definitely don’t exercise at an intensity that leaves me completely wrecked afterwards. I use exercise as a way to take a step back and look at the bigger picture that is life. It helps to ground me and clear my mind. In turn I sleep better, I eat better and I am able to perform better at work. . So consider this a reminder to prioritise you! Always worried what others are saying or would say. But after giving my life and self to God and having a daily relationship with him all those silly care seemed to drift away. I no longer care what people say or think. I no longer surround myself with negative thoughts or people, and daily, I still continue to build my life, my dream career and my family all with God's help! Been a little M. I. A lately... . So much is happening in life at the moment and quite frankly, the changes are both exciting and terrifying at the same time. This got me thinking... a huge part of my work is motivating patients and clients to change! Change their mind set, change their habits and change their routine. A concept that, for the majority of us, is often too monumental to comprehend so we stay put. We rationalise our way out of making the changes necessary for success. This week I recognised some of my own self sabotaging thoughts. I acknowledged that the fear of change has been influencing so many of my decisions and holding me back from what I want to achieve. With that in mind I have made a conscious effort to push forward, attempting to let go of the perfectionism and fear and embrace whats new. . Warning: Truth Bomb/Tough Love I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions…..anymore. The reason I don’t make them is because I have realized that there is nothing magical about the 1st day in January. The magic happens in the NOW…. I think a lot of time we have what’s called Destination Addiction. It’s where we think “over there” is going to be so much better than “over here”. We think about “over there” so much and fantasize about it that we put off our happiness or potential for happiness now. I used to have a HUGE destination addiction and didn’t even know it. I thought if I just weighed THAT, or lived in THIS house, or dated THAT guy (yeah, we’re going WAY back), or lived THERE that everything would be A-OKAY. Like somehow, I would have it all together. I spent SO much time thinking about what my life would like over there, that I didn’t bother with what I could do NOW. I think a lot of us have been conned into thinking that life will be easier THERE. That working out is going to be SO much more appealing than hitting the snooze button when THAT day comes. That broccoli will magically tastes like chocolate chip cookies and it will be EASY. It’s not easy. It’s not easy on December 1. Or January 1. Or March 1. It’s never easy because you are STILL thinking about over there!!!! I want you to think about what you can do NOW to improve your health. Can I tell you something, though? You need to think about NOW before you think about over there. You need to take 30 minutes and get your heart pumping so that the stress can start to be relieved. It’s NOT just one more thing. It could be THE thing that turns your health around. You need to think about adding more fruits and vegetables to your plate at dinner time. You WILL feel better by starting NOW. My new only be boots camp starts Monday which means you need to decide NOW that this is the right time for you to get in shape and leave the excuses over THERE!
