A nice throwback to Chiang Mai, where I was able to eat most things and not be in excruciating pain! I didnât realise how lucky I was.
So a quick diet update. After being close to tears after eating most meals meals, and then even when I hadnât just eaten a meal, I knew I had to go to a doctor (a decision that doesnât come easily when thereâs no NHS). After three separate trips to the doctor (and a $1000 bill) Iâve been diagnosed as having hyperthyroidism, something which I know very little about. Itâs basically that my thyroid doesnât produce enough of the hormones I need I think (correct me if Iâm wrong because my doctor was v v vague). But now I have a long lists of foods that arenât too great for me to eat. One of the things being gluten. Iâve definitely found that after eating bread and rice especially I have been in the most pain out of everything so Iâm now officially #glutenfree. Hereâs the full list of things I canât stomach without being in pain: breads, pastas, rice, (yes, SO much fun being in Sri Lanka where all food comes with either a mountain of rice or bread of some kind), sweet potatoâs, soy (soy milk, tofu ð, edamame), BROCOLLI ðððððð, cauliflower, alcohol, foods high in salt, fried foods, sugar and the list goes on. Bread and broccoli are the saddest ones :( I love broccoli 𥦠(I think Iâll manage to just sneakily Eat this anyway). If you have any tips on hyperthyroidism or being gluten free please let me know!!
