Messed around with a plethora of things at the gym, hit a decent longish pause squat at 495lbs so I took a 70 pound jump (smart) and went for a 10 lb PR. Hit it the first time with the mother of all grinders. But my phone malfunctioned so I had to try again because, you know, video or it didn't happen. Luckily I hit it the second time, and about twice as fast as the first one (still slow). Here it is, 565lb pause squat. . . . . . . . . . Well that's a day Two waves of C&J up to two easy singles at 90% 3rm high block clean triples up to 97%, no misses. I think the best single I'd ever had from high clocks was 180 before today. Shown are 92%, 95%, 97%. I took small jumps toward the top because I wasn't sure what to expect. With fewer attempt I think I have more in the tank. These aren't as bad as I remember @shuttuppmegg 🤣 Front squat sets with timed rest. 90%x1/75%x4 for 3 sets. Beltless because light 3rm Clean deadlifts with pauses up to a 7rpe(ish) at 285#. 26 today and I feel a lot stronger and much wiser than I was last year. Birthday 🎂 lifts for today! I didn’t do anything extreme I just went heavy on the main lifts in prep for a mock meet during the AO. 🏋🏽‍♂️230lb~104.5kg snatch and a 270lb~122.7kg clean and jerk with a Clarke’s 280lb~127.2kg

I got the idea to do front squats from the bottom up from stregth coach Dan John. After I started doing them this way for a while I really got to liking it allot. No momentum, plus it helps develop stability and strength in the weakest position of the squat and is also good for mobility as well. Also, I did a few cleans afterwards as usual. After working up to a few reps with 185lbs, I noticed my feet were a bit sluggish as my legs were starting to fatique and I was starting to get a bit sloppy as I had done reqular front squats before the bottom up front squats so I moved back down to 135lbs and just worked technique focusing on getting as good of an extension as possible. #olympiclifting, #olympicweightlifting, #olylift, #olylifting, #olylifter, #weightlifting, #snatch, #clean, #cleanandjerk, #cleanthruster, #frontsquat, #masterslifter
