Toronto friends, we'd like to invite you all to join us once again for our annual and special "Dรญa de los Muertos" celebration. (Not to be confused with Hallowe'en.)
Together, we'll dedicate this night to remember, honour and celebrate our beloved departed ancestors.
As believed by ancient cultures and traditions, during this autumn season our ancestors are able to cross between life and afterlife. We will prepare and curate our stage to become one of infinite portals on which we'll invoke and welcome the spirits to enjoy again our earthly offerings and pleasures: food, drinks, copal incense, and of course, music.
We'll also take the opportunity to commemorate and remember world activists whose lives have been taken for fighting for just causes, human rights and equalityโlegacies and stories we must keep alive.
As for the living, we'll have a full band rocking with an extra treat of entertainment that includes storytelling, elements of theatre and dance.
Arrive early if you'd like to participate in the altar ceremony. The finishing touches on the shrine installation will come together during the hour before the show and will include a ceremonial tasting of fine tequila, mezcal, organic chocolate and some "picte de elote" corn tamales.
If you wish, please bring a photo or small belonging of your beloved ancestor to contribute to the altar to honour them throughout the night.
