Redwood National & State Park
Absolutely breath taking... and giving. 🤦♂️ 🌲
Spent last week with the folks up in @redwoodnps. A trip that has been in the works for some time now. Over the last few months I have been border line obsessed with the California redwoods and one tree in particular. Studying anything I could get my hands on and reaching out to everyone and anyone that I thought might be willing to share any information.
I was ready to drop an entire series of photos along with what I have learned about this tall tree and its surrounding environment. Even a few facts about the area that are lesser known.
It wasn’t until I arrived at the park to grab the trail permit and speak to the ranger that I actually realized how special this tree is. Not only to the park, who’s policy is to not talk about its location, but to the locals as well. Too many conversations involving people winking and giving open ended suggestions to simply be ignored.
I thought about posting the pictures on my live feed for a day but decided against it. (My photos wouldn’t do it justice anyway.)
Instead, this is a picture from some of the off trail hiking we did along the way to our destination. The final half mile was completely unmaintained and unmarked. I’m pretty sure that stretch alone took us the better part of an hour. We did not see another person. It was incredible. I cannot wait to do it agin.
