BUT I thought I’ll at least try going to the gym, and if I feel better, great! But if I don’t, that’s okay too. Well, today was one of the days it made me feel better. Like. A LOT better. Heyyyyy guys. I just wanted to pop on here to say I’m so effing thankful for @fearstofit and @carolinebiddlefit and Transform for Life. We just had our group call and I’m just feeling myself and feeling this program. I’m almost halfway through, and my mindset and lifestyle have changed so much. I literally can’t even. . I’m eating 2,000+ calories a day and I’m still losing fat and gaining muscle, and my body is literally transforming before my eyes (peep the dimples that are coming back because my face is getting thinner 😂). I never thought I could eat this much (good food tho) and be working towards the body I’ve always wanted. . I regularly drink a gallon of water a day, and I haven’t had a caffeinated beverage in almost 2 weeks (who am I?). . This isn’t a sales pitch or anything, I honestly just wanted to shout out Kendall and Caroline because these ladies are straight 🔥. GO HARD OR GO HOME? . One thing that used to really confuse me is the idea of training HARD! . And the debate of whether you should train to failure . It use to really bother me when I felt like I could’ve done more or if I didn’t go to complete failure . When that happened it would plague my mind with negative thoughts like it was a wasted workout . Do you feel me? . For me the source of my confusion (brain washing) came from reading Muscle and Fitness magazine or similar publications . Today it’s the Instagram/social media fitness influencers who tell you to train like a Lion 🦁LOL . They tell you that you have to leave it all behind in the gym . BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS! . Give it 110% every set and every rep . Use forced reps, drop sets and every high intensity method under the sun . Why? . Because the truth will bore you . The truth is, whilst training like that has it’s place it’s not necessary every single workout to make progress . Besides, if you’re not using any PED’s you’re very likely going to burn out, get injured and lose motivation by going hell for leather every time you train . This is especially true if you’re an intermediate to advanced trainee . My advice is to focus on getting your form correct first and foremost, because that alone will accelerate your gains . Secondly, on the large compound movements use failure sparingly . On isolation exercises go to failure more if you want but and feel good . However you approach it, make sure you’re recovering properly because fatigue is cumulative and when that negatively impacts your subsequent training session you end up short-changing yourself . The importance of resistance training can not be understated for all ages, with benefits including improving strength, balance, running speed, athletic performance, mental health... AND, combatting the effects of aging. A blog from BJSM (see link below) discussed the impact of aging on muscle loss, strength loss, and the benefits of improving strength in an aging population. . The article detailed that in those not completing strength training, strength loss is ~1% per year as we age (over about the age of 30), and strength losses can be up to 3 x greater. This is HUGE! Have a read of the article which articulates this important message in easy to understand language with reference to the literature. And send it onto someone you know who needs to start some strength training, e.g. parents, relatives, friends (it’s never too late to start). The evidence supports resistance training to improve the strength and muscle mass in an aging population. The Australian health guidelines (and ACSM) recommend completing resistance training 2-3 times per week for optimum health benefits. . If you don't have this machine... chin ups or a half kneeling row using a cable machine. - This machine just allow you to load more weight in comparison to other variations. - 💪 If you want to build a strong and develop back... be able to perform these with full range of motion.. - A big issue I see when many people do these is.... stopping short and not letting the arms extend fully. - I recommend first understanding how to go full range without losing control. - If the weight is too heavy and you are slouching as you pull... drop the weight/ego... get your form down first. - If your chest is moving too far away from the pad... that is another indication that the weight is too heavy so you are compensating. - Your elbows should be pulling back towards your lower back. - Hope these tips were helpful for this machine version of the high pull. Hoje utilizei no meu treinamento de supino reto o superband para redução de carga no sticking point e aumentar a sobrecarga no final da fase concêntrica. Além disso, coloquei duas anilhas nas pontas para a adição linear de carga e gerar instabilidade, simulando o uso de correntes. . A literatura possui evidências mostrando benefícios para os ganhos de força, porém é escasso para hipertrofia muscular. Porém, a literatura reforça que a variação de exercícios e nas angulações podem gerar uma resposta hipertrófica regional distinta. Além disso, a adição de bandas elásticas aumenta a sobrecarga na fase excêntrica do movimento, uma fase do movimento pouco explorada no treinamento.
