Try Single Leg Romanian Deadlift with the @mytstrap to activate more muscle in less time. A normal deadlift is naturally a quad-dominant exercise, due in part to the fact that the movement pattern requires one to lower their knees to the bar and bring their hips forward. The primary difference in a Romanian deadlift is keeping your hips back, meaning more effective activation of the posterior chain. This especially true when you use the @mytstrap for this exercise. Additionally, the Romanian deadlift is one of the best ways to functionally target the hamstrings. The hamstrings also originate at the hip, meaning hip extension movements also target the hamstrings. Why is this significant? Because throughout normal everyday movements, it is actually hip extension, and not knee flexion, that plays a dominant role in movement and developing power. Lastly, the @mytstrap single leg Romanian deadlift is a great exercise to protect your back while doing daily activities like picking up objects off the ground. With the summer holidays & a new job i don’t get to train @ashwiniarmstrong as often as I’d like. In the meantime Ash is smashing it at classes, particularly Spin classes. So I used the opportunity to work on her hamstrings & posterior chain as Spin is very quad dominant. Filming things also gives me the opportunity to assess my coaching cues... are they effective, do I say too much, too many instructions? This is something I work on & assess constantly. Started the week with a full body workout, featuring Romanian deadlifts for the first time in months! 💪🏽 • As always with these form is key and I’m definitely working on it as I never really focused on deadlifts. I kept that weight low at 40kg and focus on making sure that back didn’t arch and the hips hinged correctly. 🤗 • Along with deadlifts, the rest of the workout was a lot of cardio based circuit work which I actually really loved! I needed a workout where I felt I was seriously working, getting that heart rate UP and sweating 💦 (see ➡️➡️➡️) • Hope you guys had a motivated Monday and started the week off well!! ✨

First day of adjusted plan kicked off with deadlifts (for volume). Loads of deadlifts. I've never lifted that bar up more than max 5times lol so 5x12 @ 40% , 5x12 @50% & 3x12 @60% felt like lifetime. Finished with my faves RDL's for 3x10 as per plan :) thanx @marcgstrength . . . Session joined together with pull and muscle up straight in. Whole plan was as follows : False grip hang at 12kg 4x30sec 5x5 pull ups at 12kg (weight up from next week) 5pull ups EMOM for 10 minutes 5x3 high pulls X10 muscle ups (one at a time due to the stupid bar ) Ring muscle ups 5x3 And finished with cooling bike sess. DB Romanian Deadlift - Deze oefening leertje om vanuit je heupen te bewegen bij het optillen van zware dingen. Zoals peuters die zich van je los proberen te worstelen. - Lage rugpijn komt vaak voor bij zowel zwangere als postpartum vrouwen. Er kunnen een heleboel redenen zijn waarom jij rugpijn ervaart, maar een goede eerste stap naar het verhelpen of voorkomen van pijn is sterker worden! - Een oefening als de DB Romanian Deadlift maakt je hamstrings, bilspieren, bovenrug en grip sterker. Zo wordt het makkelijker om meerdere keren per dag je baby of peuter op te tillen. Hoe sterker deze spieren, hoe beter je leert vanuit je heupen te bewegen, hoe minder kans op lage rugpijn. - Hoe doe je de oefening? • Hou je gewicht over je hele voet en kijk schuin naar beneden. • Adem in en duw je heupen naar achteren, waarbij je bovenlijf omlaag beweegt. Alsof je een deur met je billen dicht wil duwen. • Knijp je oksels aan zodat de DB's dichtbij je lichaam blijven. • Wanneer de DB's net onder je knie zijn adem je uit door je mond en kom je omhoog door je billen aan te knijpen. Doe de oefening voor 3-4 sets en 8-12 herhalingen. - Deze oefening is veilig tijdens je hele zwangerschap en met lichte gewichten mag je de oefening ook al met 6-8 weken na je bevalling doen. The hamstrings are isolated to maximize the work being placed on them, dumbbells require more control than say a barbell which makes the exercise more taxing than a typical RDL . . . HOW TO: 1. Begin in a standing position with a dumbbell in each hand 2. Initiate the movement by flexing your hips, slowly pushing your butt as far back as you can 3. Drive your butt back as far as you can, which should generate tension in your hamstrings as your hands approach knee level . . . What you're seeing here is @ashleemeier first attempt at this exercise and has the hip hinge movement downpat, slight lumbar lordosis which is not uncommon for females but is being rectified so in her current programming. ⚡️“But you post all of your workouts on your social media, what will someone get that’s not already for free in the internet?” A valid question.. 🖤 . . 1 - In my experience, quality science-based programs are NOT free. Quality ANYTHING isn’t free. Why? They usually require a lot of hard work and some educational background on the part of the coach. It requires structure based on working knowledge of human physiology, movement science, and aims for a specific outcome. A coach’s insight is also important. I prefer an experienced coach over what the person looks like. (I understand IG mostly works the other way around! But then, why not have both?!) All else equal, a trainer with 1 year experience will differ in insight and knowledge with one with 5, 10, 15 years of experience. Bottom line: I stand by the quality of my programs. . . 2 - Showing an exercise on IG can be informative, but even a series of exercises is NOT A PROGRAM. A training program is systematic and tailored for a specific goal based on scientific principles. No program = variable consistency = mediocre results. . . 3 - My videos are MY own workouts. The programs I’ve created weren’t written for ME. Acaba ficando muito limitada e é comum haver uma estagnação. 😕 ㅤ E uma coisa que acho engraçada é: varias mulheres reclamam ou fazem piada de homens que não treinam perna, mas muitas delas também não treinam braços. Decided to film my leg day today so people can see I'm still working on MOST lower body exercises. 😜 Seated calf raises are one of my favorite ways to train calves. I can really focus on trying to control the movement. Still working on being stable at the top of the rep, and making sure I don't flex my toes. . . My squats are pitiful, but due to FAI (hip impingement), I have to go really wide and not as deep. My hip anatomy is just not made for "by the book" squats, and I ended up hurting myself because I worked on them too much. Now I go wide, toes pointed out, and I don't feel the impingement at all. Along with mobility and banded distraction stretches, I'm still able to practice squatting without ANY pain, which I'm happy about! Working on stretching my adductors so I can get a bit more depth at this width, but I'm happy with where I am currently! . . Bulgarian Split Squats are really great for complete leg development. I feel the burn on these pretty much everywhere haha. The way I'm doing them here are more quad focused, but I feel the stretch on my hammies, and the squeeze at the top on my glutes. I prefer doing these as more quad dominant because I have lots of exercises I can do for butt and hammies. . . Romanians with dumbbells really get me fired up. I have that bounce on the bottom to help me get a bit lower while keeping my back set. I'm working on perfecting that hip hinge, and these have helped me grow quite a bit. . . Overall, this was as best as I could do today. I hurt my AC joint the other day (I'll post that video in a few days) so I couldn't do hip thrusts or deadlifts today, but I'm happy with what I could achieve today! Still learning homies! 💣INCREASE YOUR SQUAT DEPTH💣 - ✅RATIONALE: Goblet Romanian Deadlift (RDL) to Squat is a drill I use for hip mobility and differentiating between a hip-dominant movement (RDL) and a knee-dominant movement (squat). - These are also great if you have trouble with your squat depth and/or have trouble sitting in a deep squat without falling back. Use that kettlebell as your counter-weight so you can really sit back. - 🗣COACHING CUES: ▪️Hold a light kettlebell (~15lbs) right above your chest with your elbows pointing 👇 ▪️Pull your hips back while keeping your knees straight (Meanwhile keeping your chin tucked in so your nose is 👇) ▪️Bend your knees, pull your hips towards the ground, and maintain and upright torso 👆 - 🤔 HOW: Use these during your warm up to prep your deadlift and squat movements on a lower body training day.
