Most don't understand tgat there's a difference between the #romaniandeadlift and #stiffleg #deadlift . This is a stiff leg and it's my preferred one. The back is allowed to round to maintain a perfectly straight leg. This makes it more intense on the hamstrings and lower back while reducing the weight slightly. It does however increase the risk of damage to the muscles worked . If your hamstrings flexibility is low always go Romanian

👉 Why single legged "Romanian deadlift" for general population? 👇 . 📌We know how much unilateral exercises important are when it comes to athletic population, but some of them for gen. pop. as well; . 📌I found picking up grounds (with hands) easier when doing it mostly by bending hips (glutes are doing most of the work, you don't need to squat down), which totally makes sense; . 📌The second pic (rear foot down) shows an easier choice for picking up because you are more stable, but the first one is more fancy🎉... So, who wants to be a ballerina⛸? But, as you can notice, my back is a little bit more rounded in the 2nd pic because the rear knee is closer to the 1st one which means more chance for "but wink". But no worries, the spinal load is not a big deal here and nothing will happen short-term. I am just not sure about long-term🗡😆; . 📌Bending your rear knee helps you to do it easier (the first pic) because of the shorter lever. Just swing the rear leg back down faster when you grab the "ground" if you want to make it even easier. When the set is too long for the Instagram video you know you're doing work! Back was feeling iffy this morning so I added in the reverse bands. I don't know how much actual resistance this removed at the bottom or top of the exercise (I'm guessing 20-30 lbs off the top and 60-80 at the bottom). But what I do know is that techniques like this allow me to push the intensity. The Romanian Deadlift... . . The exercise that has contributed most to my hamstring development over the past 3 years. @yuckylavado also performs this movement as his bread and butter hamstring Mass Builder (and his hamstrings are more developed then mine! 🔥) . . Execution? . . 1. Un rack the bar from a power rack if possible. But it’s also ok to deadlift it off of the floor before setting up for the first rep (if you have to) . . 2. As you begin to descend push the glutes (booty) away from you. Keep the bar path roughly over the middle of your foot and maintain a super tight core (I find planks, and bird dogs are great accessory core exercises for stability on the RDL). . . 3. Go as low as you can (usually just below knees for most) but remember mobility, limb length, and leverages will play a role in your total bar distance. The key is to reverse the motion right before the low lumbar begins to unlock (goes into flexion). . . I highly recommend filming yourself from the side. This will really help maximize mastery of the movement pattern. And don’t be afraid to start with just the bar until you are certain efficiency is up to par. Then begin overloading weekly, bi weekly, or via whatever progression pattern you desire. . . NOW GO GROW THEM HAMIS 🔥🔥🔥

#Repost because a lot of people have been having trouble with this 💀 and I’m more of a visual learner, so maybe this will help 💪🏿🧐 ・・・ 🤓In my opinion, the hip hinge is one of the most difficult movement patterns to teach, but very beneficial once mastered. One of my favorite exercises is the Romanian Deadlift (RDL), which is great for developing strength in the posterior chain (backside of your body.) For those of you who are more knee dominant (like myself) I would suggest adding these to your workout routine to help balance out hip/knee ratio. When I injured my lower back these were my bestfriend💙 (and still are.) There are many variations and can be loaded or unloaded (with/without weight), done with kettlebells, a PVC pipe, barbell, elevated, or single legged (more advanced.) Saturday shout out to one of my absolute faves 🖤 Training with @positivebalance4u at @thirdspacelondon in his ridiculous Bars&Bells class became a regular part of my schedule back in Summer 2017. I can honestly say that the result was becoming the fittest and strongest I have EVER been. 💪 I popped in to visit and try out the new routine a couple of weeks ago and could barely walk by the end of it. 🤤 This class is intense. Lee takes no prisoners, but Team, it DELIVERS. Do as he says, when he says, and for God's sake go heavy. I think I have about 50kg on this bar, which at the rep range and intensity of this class, is about enough to floor me for the rest of the weekend 😭 Keep doing your thing, Lee. Two of the most butchered exercises I see in the gym are single leg RDLs and lunges of any kind. If one of my clients is struggling with one or both of these movements, I usually turn to these two exercises: single leg RDL from bench and slider reverse lunges. Using the bench to control the other leg allows an individual to load their hamstring directly, without worry of their hips opening on the kickback of the non-working leg or the balance involved to perform the movement. More times than not the single leg RDL becomes more of a balancing act and less of a hamstring exercise. Same can be said for lunges as one tries to step out or backwards. By using the slider disc, you allow the individual to move through the position without trying to catch their balance on the step out and back in. As individuals improve on their strength, I reintroduce the progressions with much more success than the original product. Do you struggle with your single leg rdl and/ lunges? Give these a try!

On the initial pull, a tight core is going to make or break you (literally)! Lack of core control results in curved backs and strain on your lower joints. Be sure you have a solid plant with an even distribution of weight and keep your spine neutral. I was misinformed for a long time on this. In high school, I was taught to find a mark straight ahead but slightly up. However, it can lead to neck and spine injuries! Be weary with deadlifts and don’t push yourself overboard! ARE YOU MAKING THIS RDL MISTAKE?! - We love Romanian Deadlifts! When done properly, they work your glutes, hamstrings, and lower back in a very functional position. They’re super easy to perform incorrectly however. Here are a few keys to RDLing successfully: 🔑 Get your knees bent to about 20 degrees! This places more stress on your glutes rather than relying on your hamstring flexibility for stability. 🔑 Keep the bar in close! The further away from your base; the tougher it’s going to be on your lower back 🔑 Speaking it lower back - keep it flat. Rounding it with a heavy weight in your hand can result in potential injury over time. - Now, go RDL your heart out! Question for all you Achievers: do you prefer Romanian deadlifts or regular, conventional deadlifts better? Why or why not? We’d love to hear your thoughts below!
