I really think WE (YOU, US) can make a difference. How did you feel when you watched programmes such as Blue Planet, Drowning in Plastic or a Plastic Ocean? ๐ I donโt know about you but I felt overwhelmed, helpless, guilty, like everything was covered in plastic, I felt upset and like I couldnโt do anything about it. What Iโve come to realise is:
๐ To take it one step at a time ๐ There are alternatives and things that arenโt made from plastic (new habits are key)
๐ We are part of the solution ๐ & we CAN make a difference!
One step at a time. Each time I come to the end of something in my home, Iโm replacing it with a more sustainable alternative. It makes no sense to go out tomorrow and buy all new stuff thatโs eco... it makes no sense... as all itโs doing is creating more โstuffโ. But doing it bit by bit, not only is it more effective but itโs more realistic. The chances of sticking to it are much greater as it doesnโt feel like TOO much. Iโm also trying to be creative with reusing stuff. Finding purposes for things that otherwise would be thrown โawayโ. Small things make a huge difference. A friend of ours told us the other week that she bought an Eco Cup because of Conscious Living, she said that she has roughly 7 coffees each week (doubled up in single use coffee cups as itโs an americano) and a disposable plastic straw each time (which she also switched for a stainless steel one). We worked out that this one โsmallโ change will save 720 cups and 365 plastic straws from landfill, from our waterways and seas. 720 + 365! Thereโs nothing small about that. In fact, itโs incredible. Things like that give me such hope and knowing that so many people DO care. We know more now than ever and there are more and more alternatives every day. Letโs make a difference ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฟ๐ โจ๐๐๐ฌ๐ โจ๐
