Monday Movement: Landmine Press The Landmine Press is a great variation for those working up to or needing a regression from overhead pressing. The Landmine is beneficial in helping build up scapular stabilizers, triceps and core activation. There are many variations to this lift, but Coach Liz wanted to show you two of the basics. First is single arm with a staggered stance. Anchor the barbell against a rack or a wall and stand with the barbell lined up over the shoulder. Step the opposite foot forward and feel free to lean forward. Make sure to stabilize with the core first before pressing forward. The second variation is a Squat into a Landmine Press. Bring both hands to the bar and start at your chest. Sit back into a squat and drive into a press as you stand. Elbow Supported External Rotation- External rotation of the shoulder is a tough movement to isolate and just so happens to be an important part of shoulder mobility. Adding the knee as a support helps prevent a common fault, dropping the elbow. The external rotators of the shoulder are not only an important part of good posture but also come in handy when you have to stabilize heavy weight overhead. So grab a plate or dumbell and give this a try. _____________________________________________________ 1-Sit with one knee bent and elbow supported on that knee at about shoulder height 2-Start with shoulder internally rotated, palm facing towards the floor 3-Set your shoulder blades, down and away from your ears 3-Keeping the elbow on your knee, raise the weight away from the floor 4-Lower the weight back towards the floor It doesn’t take a lot of weight to make this a challenging exercise so make sure you’re not overloading it and allowing your shoulder to dump forward. If your shoulder range of motion is limited, don’t get too caught up in trying to go lower (or higher). Work within your shoulder’s current range of motion. The posterior shoulder works eccentrically to slow down the forward momentum of the arm. This can place significant stress on the muscles, especially after a long season. . The problem is we don’t tend to work these muscles eccentrically. Everything done is external rotations or horizontal abduction that uses a concentric muscle action. You need to train the specific muscle action. . Stretching into this #yogisstretchmonday with a power vinyasa class to begin my day, then a flow to focus on stretching the quadriceps & opening the hips, and finally a flow to deepen my backbends. After school, I intend to follow along with an hour-and-half dedicated to core-strengthening and then handstand practice. One thing I picked up today, and probably should have known all along, is that in baby cobra, or regular cobra, I can relieve any tiny pin-pricks of pressure in my low back by tightening the glutes, and suddenly the compression in the low back is lessened, and I gain more height. All the while, I am always trying to think about projecting out more from the chest, even as I dropback from #pinchamayurasana to #forearmwheel and still trying to catch that foot just like everyone else I know. Shoulder work to start the week, boy did we get it in. I haven’t posted in awhile due to conflicting schedules with my group but I think we’ve come to a middle ground and post will be coming more frequently. So let’s get right into it ⁣ ⁣ -Standing military press, probably my favorite compound shoulder lift due to its ability to get multiple muscle groups involved. I try to keep it as strict as possible but when going for numbers you’ve never done it can get a little wild. ⁣ ⁣ -Single arm landmine presses, I good compliment to your shoulder lift because it engages not just the shoulder but a little of the upper chest as well. Control here is key, feel every rep up and down.⁣ ⁣ -Ez bar side lateral raises, with a longer bar it gives this simple lift a little extra challenge by having to keep it from swaying. Great way to get shoulder stability in your lift ⁣ ⁣ -Underhand ez bar front raises, a variation that allows you to put on a little more weight than usual and really work those front delts. Keep your arms straight and control the weight, don’t let it control you ⁣ ⁣ -Face pulls, I can’t stress enough how important this exercise is. It helps eliminate imbalances and promotes good posture. I’d recommend doing this at least 3-5 times a week. It’s not about pulling all the weight but more feeling the contraction in every rep. ⁣ ⁣ It’s a new week, a chance to start fresh and be your best self. Take advantage of that and be what you know you can. Generalmente, nos centramos más en ejercitar determinadas partes del cuerpo o mejorar en algún ejercicio o skill, por lo que hacemos un calentamiento previo y un estiramiento o compensación al terminar, enfocado a lo que hemos hecho, pero muchas veces nos dejamos algo o alguien en el tintero. Hoy voy a mencionar el dorsal, un músculo que, salvo que lo trabajemos específicamente, no nos acodamos que nos ha estado ayudando en muchos otros movimientos y no lo preparamos ni lo relajamos correctamente. Su función sobre el brazo es la de aducción, extensión y rotación interna del hombro, y es clave en la estabilización del mismo. En mi caso, enfocado al trabajo de handstand que estoy haciendo, es importantísima una buena preparación, ya que, una buena movilidad, extensión y estabilización de hombro, son unos de los factores claves para una correcta alineación del cuerpo. Por tanto, con ayuda de un roller, haremos un trabajo miofascial previo, presionando durante unos minutos de atrás a adelante y de abajo a arriba, hasta llegar a la inserción del dorsal justo debajo de la axila. Как и обещал, показываю альтернативу жимам штаги из-за головы/перед собой, а так же жимам гантелей из-за головы. ᅠ В прошлом посте я указывал на травмоопасность этих упражнений. Дело в том, что плечевой сустав испытывает внутреннее вращение в плечевой сумке, тем самым пережимая сухожилия плечевых мышц. А это приводит к травме. Конечно, у каждого по разному: кто-то почувствует неприятные "щелчки" в плече через 2 месяца, кому-то на это потребуется 5 лет🤓. ᅠ Упражнение на видео - отличная альтернатива. Bottom Up Carry- If you really want to test the ability of your shoulders, give this bottom up kettlebell carry a shot. This circus-trick like exercise is great training for shoulder stability and also building a foundation for an arsenal of shoulder correctives. The balance component challenges your rotator cuff and even your core as you fight to keep that KB in position. _______________________________________________________ 1- Grab two light kettlebells 2-Flip them so that the bottom of the bell is balanced over the handle 3-Elbows should be at shoulder height and pointing out roughly 45° 4-Set your shoulders and brace your core 5-Walk without allowing your back to arch or elbows to drop You probably noticed that you had to grip pretty hard to keep things from falling apart. By adding a bit of controllable instability, we are increasing neural drive. This means that the instability creates a cascade of responses from your shoulders and core, causing them to contract harder and brace to create a solid foundation for the exercise. Make sure you don’t get carried away with the amount of weight on this. A little bit of weight can go a long way. You can crank things up by doing one side at a time or even practice your belly breathing in this position. We want to help you build better shoulders.
