Tighten your core, exhale and leading with your elbows, pull the handle towards your upper chest pulling your elbows as far back as possible. Squeeze for a peak contraction, inhale and slowly lower for a 3-4 second negative letting your arms fully extend at the top. Pause to eliminate momentum before beginning the next rep. Just finished my chest workout with some fly’s this morning! . . Just a quick tip when doing flys everyone — do not focus on how much weight you are moving! Focus on quality of the rep over everything. Notice in the video I’m using next to nothing for weight, and moving very slow. This is because I’m focused on TUT (time under tension). . . I realized when I finally stared getting out of the habit of working out my ego rather than my muscles that the results started coming much quicker! I no longer care if I’m the strongest person in the gym, I’m much more focused on a mind muscle connection and working the muscles that I should be. I’ve noticed much more growth, and much less pain once I started doing this! Although lifting is heavy and a lot of fun, I don’t care who you are when you break a PR it will always feed the ego. However, hanging out with the weight with a 4-8 second eccentric and a 2-4 concentric is by far one of the most difficult things I’ve done in a long time. Using a D bar handle : at the top of the movement, you can feel it on your brachialis. On the negative, due to the wide grip, you will feel it in your inner biceps. 2. Using a rope attachment : with this attachment, it’s all brachialis and your outside biceps due to the close grip. Pro tips : 1) regardless of which attachment you choose, rep tempo stays the same. Exhale, explode up and squeeze. Inhale and slowly lower for a 3-4 second negative.
