MEET: Aníbal L. Santiago.
Yesterday, we walked into this man's diner. Two servings of sopa de pollo later (on the house, I must add), we learned that he migrated to the US from his small pueblo in Puerto Rico at the age of 23. It was a Monday, 8 July 1963. (His US arrival anniversary is the same as my Holy Ghost Birthday. How cool is that?) His first job in the States was washing dishes and he made only $0.75 an hour. Today he owns his own business and serves his customers with such a lovable spirit. Mr. Santiago shared with us stories of growing up in Puerto Rico, moving to the States and told us about what motivates him the most, his family. This man exemplifies what it means to work hard and absolutely love every season of life. Someday I hope to be as cool as Mr. Santiago. Thank you Mr. Santiago for the delicious sopa, fun stories, and words of wisdom. #USATravels #SinFronteras_
