How has your perception of the world and your experiences in the world shaped you? ð§
Everything from what you were taught in school about society, history, the founders of this country and what they look like, your community, the things your parents said about others when they didnât think you were listening, the way other people treated you growing up, the culture youâve surrounded yourself with-they have all played major parts in making up what you think your identity is. .
But the way we interact with the world is always changing. As we grow, we meet new people who donât look like us, or didnât grow up in the same types of communities as us, or knew more or less privileges than us, and slowly they change our perception. Itâs so slow, sometimes we donât even notice that itâs happened. But itâs important that we continue to see things that make us wonder how we ever could have thought that our perception was right, or the only perception that was right. This is how we grow. This is how we become more mindful. This is how we become universal humans and not just humans with different external traits. This is how we gain more empathy, love, kindness, acceptance, support, and become more open to our true selves and to others. â¨Perception is reality.â¨
