Happy #WhatIEatWednesday ! I decided to start this lil weekly series to share simple everyday recipes with you all and show you what a typical day eating as a #vegan can be like! Let’s jump in! 🍓breakfast: PB&J smoothie bowl. I’ve been having this on repeat lately - it’s so satisfying! - frozen riced broccoli - frozen riced cauliflower - frozen banana - frozen mixed berries - frozen pineapple - maca powder Blend and top with hemp seeds, flax seeds, and peanut butter! 🥗 lunch: sweet potato bowl (pictured) this is so quick and easy! - sweet potato purée (cook 3-4 medium sweet potatoes in the instant pot for 15 min or roast for 45 min) - roasted brussel sprouts - roasted carrots 🥬 dinner: split pea stew cabbage “tacos” dinner was a bit of a hodgepodge tonight😂 but hey it was still good! - split pea stew from @highcarbhannah Epic Vegan Pressure Cooking ebook! - baked tofu from Trader Joe’s! - avocado - roasted brussel sprouts and carrots (leftover from lunch) - cabbage 🍵 snacks: matcha latte from @starbucks (once in a while treat hehe) and licking the pan from making @maddielymburner ‘s peanut butter chocolate cookies for tomorrow! I meant to post this last night, but I forgot. Too busy snuggling under my covers, I guess. My #whatiatewednesday . I'm not following any diet plan, just trying to fuel my body with things I like and that don't make me feel icky. As someone with consistent digestive problems, I'm trying to find what lessens them while also making it something I can enjoy. I have started tracking my food, just so that I can keep a calorie deficit. Daily supps: Multivitamin, probiotic, fish oil, along with my pre-workout. I'm not a fan of plain water, so I do flavor mine to make sure I'm drinking enough. Breakfast: quick oats, apple chia crumble granola, Flavor God buttery cinnamon roll spice, english toffee stevia. Lunch: sandwich thin, boca spicy chick'n patty, sharp cheddar ultra thin slice, mayo. String cheese and frozen grapes on the side. Snacks: 2 halos mandarins Dinner: bag of kohlrabi linguine I decided to try from Whole Foods with some peanut sauce. Also, one of my first forays into learning how to use chopsticks, didn't do too bad. Eating Healthy does not always mean eating 'Healthy' Foods. I eat chocolate, lots of fats, vegan burgers, and ice cream on the regular. First of all, classifying foods as healthy vs. unhealthy is an UNhealthy habit. There are foods that are more nutrient dense and will be better for some of your body's needs and the same goes with different foods having different macro nutrient breakdowns. . I have a little bit of chocolate almost everyday because it tastes amazing with my oatmeal or with some fruit. And I love love love fats like avocados, nuts, nut butter, olive oil, coconut yogurt, etc. Fats DO NOT make you fat. They help you absorb nutrients and vitamins, regulate your hormones, keep you full for a loooong time, and so much more. . I like to have a "lazy" dinner 1-2 times a week so I don't spend an hour prepping and cooking dinner. Last night I had a sunflower cutlet patty with a bagel, spinach, Avo, vegan butter, mushrooms, and tomato. For breakfast I had my usual oatmeal which is jam packed with healthy fats. And I smacked on hummus and cucumber slices. . Tonight I'm going to have Mac n cheese @homeroom510 Because it's my friend's birthday. I don't believe in cheat meals, I don't believe in judging food based strictly on numbers. I say this all the time but I eat on a way that makes me happy and keeps me healthy. For today's #whatieatwednesday I want to talk about portions. I see so many women on social media talk about how you need to eat 5-6 small meals a day to loose fat and be healthy and just like the "don't eat after 8 pm" or "no carbs after lunch" it's all a bunch of bullshit. . When you eat your meals, how many meals you eat, or even the macro breakdown of your meals, has little to NO impact on your health and weight. . The reason these rules seem right is because when you eat late at night it's typically not because you're hungry, and limiting carbs usually means you'll skip that cookie or French fries. All that matters is calories in versus calories out. With a few minor exceptions such as water weight, constipation due to low fiber intake, etc. Yes, bigger meals can cause more bloating, but frequent eating/snacking also increases bloating by not giving your digestion a break. It's all about what works best for YOU. . Most days I have 3 meals. A big breakfast, a snack, and a big dinner. That's just what works for me. For some people eating 400 calories every 2 hours for 5 meals works for them. For others (like myself) I have a big 800+ calorie breakfast and dinner and a then a small snack to tide me over in between. Snacking and grazing is not for me because I like to feel very full and satisfied after my meals. . Breakfast: chocolate banana protein oats with lots of nuts, seeds, and nut butter. Dinner: HUGE salad with 2 servings of tofu, avocado, walnuts, and loads of veggies. Not pictured: morning coffee, kombucha, pear, and some avocado ice cream for dessert. . I do my best to enforce the policy that you come to the dinner table and eat what’s provided. If you don’t want to, that’s OK, but there won’t be alternatives or extra snacks because of that choice. Because of this I do try to make as least one or two foods that are sure to please. I’ll also serve the same foods I’m cooking in raw form since it’s easy to pull things out as I go. Here’s what that looks like for one of our recent meals. My plate has stir fried veggies and chicken with peanut sauce over ramen noodles with a sprinkling of sesame seeds. One year old plate (pre-picky stage) includes stir fried veggies and chicken with sesame seeds, peanut sauce on the side for dipping (spooned out before made spicy), and ramen noodles. Three year old plate (in the midst of picky stage) includes raw carrots and peas, sesame seeds and ramen noodles. What I Eat Wednesday I plan to do this every so often to give you guys a general idea of how I eat on this lifestyle and what works for me. Remember, everyone is different. Preferences, requirements, illnesses, symptoms, and conditions vary person to person. This is just to use as an example. Please listen to your body and follow your own hunger and fullness cues. 7:00am- 32oz warm lemon water (avoid hot or boiling water so as to not denature the nutrients in the lemon juice) 8:00am- 20 oz celery juice 9:00am- Grapefruit, garlic, ginger, turmeric shot (homemade and freshly juiced) 9:30am- 20oz watermelon juice 10:30am- Smoothie with 2 large bananas, 4 medjool dates, 1 cup wild blueberries, 1 packet of frozen pitaya, handful of spinach, 1 tbsp. Hawaiian spirulina, and water to blend 1:00pm- Smoothie with coconut water, 1 tsp. barley grass juice powder, 1 tbsp. atlantic dulse, handful of cilantro, handful of spinach, 6 inches of aloe gel, 2 medjool dates, 2 bananas, 1 cup wild blueberries, 1 cup frozen pineapple 3:00pm- Adrenal healing snack- 2 apples, 2 celery sticks, 4 dates 5:30pm- 1 baked Hannah sweet potato 8:00pm- Potato bowl with 3 gold potatoes and lots of lettuce on top (I have a post on this a few back and also a saved story highlight.) 10:00pm- 2 medjool dates before bed *Just to be clear, keep in mind these times include the time it takes to eat and drink. I don’t wait an hour after my lemon water to drink my celery juice or wait an hour after my celery juice to eat or drink something else. Waiting that long wouldn’t be healthy for my adrenals. If I start drinking my lemon water at 7am I finish around 7:30am. From there, I set a timer for 30 min and then make and drink my celery juice, finishing at about 8:30, set another timer and move on to the next thing at about 9am and so on. Once I’m done with liquids and move on to foods I try to drink smoothies/eat every two hours but if I’m hungry earlier I honor that and eat. It’s #WhatIEatWednesday ! What did you have for breakfast today?? . I’m still intuitive eating while I figure out a new life routine. So here’s what I ate while eating intuitively the other day. I genuinely have zero idea what my macros or calories were 🤷🏼‍♀️ . 🍳BREAKFAST: I went out for breakfast with @christinaricewellness to @parakeetcafe 🙌🏻 I got scrambled eggs with beet-cured salmon (spoiler alert: it just tasted like salmon 😂), some avocado, and asparagus. And also the most delicious adaptogenic chocolate chai latte ever 😍 They even used the @foursigmatic 10 mushroom blend . 🥗DINNER: I had leftover Yak Paleo Chili (recipe from my ebook) that my mom and I had made the night before. I used @buyranchdirect yak meat 🙌🏻 Speaking of which, you can now order a meat box subscription from them hand curated by Yours Truly! Details in my story! . 🍺DRINKS: I don’t often drink alcohol, but when I do, I try to have some probiotics with it 😂 My brother, a few friends, and I went out to @juneshineco and got some flights of hard kombucha to share while playing Settlers of Catan. Our game got cut short because the bar closed but rest assured, I would have won 😂 . 🍫SNACKS: When I got home, I wanted a quesadilla. So I made a quesadilla. Hello my dears 😃 I decided Wednesday for the #middaylunchwednesday ! In addition there is today vegetables Frikassee with red and white jasmine rice @reishunger [unpaid advertising]. I steamed onions in oil, then added carrots and mushrooms and steamed! To keep the whole thing gluten-free, I used maize flour to thicken! For this I have sprinkled the corn flour on the vegetables, something with sauté, extinguished with white wine and filled with vegetable broth! Now came asparagus from the glass, champignons from the glass and capers and liquid from all three glasses to it! Simmer everything until the fresh vegetables are good and season with vegan sour cream, lemon, salt and pepper! Actually frozen peas come in, but I did not have them! A few sprouts on it and ready! It was delicious, almost as used to be with mother 😉! I wish you a very beautiful Wednesday afternoon and a cozy evening, kisses your Danny 🤗💖😘 . . Hallo ihr Lieben 😃 ich bestimmte den Mittwoch jetzt zum #mittagessensmittwoch ! Dazu gibt es heute Gemüse Frikassee mit rotem und weißen Jasmin Reis @reishunger [unbezahlte Werbung]. Ich habe Zwiebeln in Öl angedünstet, danach Karotten und Champignons dazu gegeben und mit gedünstet! Um das ganze glutenfrei zu halten hab ich Maismehl zum andicken genommen! Dafür habe ich das Mais Mail auf das Gemüse gestreut, etwas mit angebraten, mit Weißwein abgelöscht und mit Gemüsebrühe aufgegossen! Jetzt kam noch Spargel aus dem Glas Champignons aus dem Glas und Kapern dazu und Flüssigkeit aus allen drei Gläsern! Alles etwas köcheln lassen bis das frische Gemüse bissfest ist und mit veganen Sauerrahm, Zitrone, Salz und Pfeffer abschmecken! Eigentlich kommen noch Tiefkühl Erbsen rein, aber die hatte ich nicht da! Noch ein paar Sprossen drauf und fertig! War super lecker, fast wie früher bei Mutter 😉!. It’s #WhatIEatWednesday ! What was your favorite meal that you ate yesterday?? . Lately I’ve been eating intuitively and just letting myself chill before I start my plan to reverse diet. Here’s everything I ate last Thursday: . ☕️COFFEE: I started out my day with a black coffee from @blacklightcoffee. I try to limit my caffeine to only intaking it 2x per week. This prevents my body from adapting to it (ie. getting addicted because caffeine is a drug) and ensures that when I do have it, it has maximal effect . 🍳BREAKFAST: Chocolate Chai Chaga Oatmeal 😍 Oats cooked in @malkorganics almond milk with cacao, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, maple syrup and @foursigmatic chaga. It’s winter (aka cold and flu season) and chaga is an adaptogens that is a powerful immune booster. If you’re surrounded by people (in school, work in an office building, etc) I recommend chaga to protect yourself against all the easily spread germs. ‘fitandnerdy’ will get you 15% off! . 🍫SNACKS: I had a peanut butter @epicbar , a HERMIONE CHOCOLATE WAND OMG (best Christmas present ever—thank you mommy) while watching Harry Potter with my roommates, & a Love @brewdrkombucha . 🥗DINNER: Taco saladddddd 😍😍😍😍 recipe from my Fitness & Lifestyle eBook, Project Comeback (link in biooooo) . 🍪DESSERT: I baked myself some paleo cookies based on @christinaricewellness ’s new recipe (on her blog which is linked in her bio!) but made them with chocolate mushroom @goldnuggetghee uggetghee and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It’s #WhatIEatWednesday ! What did you have for breakfast today?? As you all know, I finished PROJECT COMEBACK this week! 😄 I’m now on a mission to reverse diet and use my new momentum to build some muscle and some strength. That being said, yesterday I didn’t track my calories and just kind of went with the flow. Here’s what I ate: . ☕️COFFEE: I started out my morning with organic coffee from @birdrockcoffeeroasters with some coconut milk, honey, & cinnamon . 🥞BREAKFAST: A vegan feast at @trilogysanctuary 😍 Even though I’m not vegan, I still appreciate some good vegan food 🙌🏻 My mom and I split some tacos, a BLT crepe, a chocolate muffin, and a kombucha . 🥜SNACKS: I had some sprouted walnuts and some @eatpilinuts pili nut butter . 🥙DINNER: PIZZAAAAA!!! Was this healthy? Nope. Did I care? Nope. My boyfriend has been begging me to go get pizza with him for the last month but since I was on Project Comeback, I wanted to stick to my favorite, ideal way of eating. But I figured that since I was done and felt like I had better control over my diet, I could enjoy an entire pizza. Yes, I ate the whole thing😋 . 🍫DESSERT: you know me, I can’t finish off the day without something a little chocolatey 😝 I decided to make a sleep-aiding adaptogenic mint hot chocolate 😍 I used @malkorganics almond milk, some @foursigmatic reishi and @sunpotion ashwagandha, chocolate mushroom @goldnuggetghee , @artisanaorganics coconut butter, 1.5 tbsp cacao powder, 1 drop of peppermint extract, and a splash of maple syrup. For today’s version of #whatieatwednesday I’d like to tell you a tale called “Even Dietitians Experience Lunch Ruts: Salads in the Winter”. . . . Tbh I’m not feeling meal prepping, and having some upcoming travel just made me want to keep it even more low key this week. So, here we are with another desk salad. . . . Here’s the thing though-it’s really good. I’ve decided it’s the little mermaid salad because it has seaweed and salmon from a pouch and the colors of the red pepper and red onion remind me of Ariel 🧜🏿‍♀️. It also hits my favorite flavors, makes sure I eat a few cups of veggies today, and it was easy to prepare. So, basically, a nutrition plus intuitive eating win. Happy Wednesday pals!
