--- ll Working on Pincha Mayurasana? These are the 3 areas *I* work/worked in my pincha journey. As always, every personโs journey is uniquely different and beautiful, what works for one will not work for all, and nothing beats hands on time with an instructor.
1. Opening the shoulders: utilizing blocks is one of my favorite ways. Other great shoulder openers: puppy pose, cow face, thread the needle, eagle arms
2. Core strengthening and engagement. Forearm planks (here Iโm showing a modified version with knees down) are great for pincha mayurasana prep as they help strength the core and allow you to find comfort on your forearms. Other great asanas for core: boat pose, plank, dolphin pose.
3. Utilizing a wall to help you find comfort, confidence and balance in pincha mayurasana. You can choose to face toward or away from the wall. For me personally i found that having the wall behind me made me dependent on it for confidence (knowing if i lost my balance it was behind me). Start by placing both legs/feet on the wall, than working to move one leg off at a time eventually moving away from the wall all together. You can also use a strap and/or blocks to help keep your alignment.
