All these colors and patterns make me look like some weirdly shaped alien. 😄 Day two of #springcleaningyogis and aromatherapy is the topic. I’m incredibly sensitive to scents. I can smell something and it instantly transports me back to a specific time and place. On the other hand, strong odors are even stronger to me, which is inconvenient when you have a very gassy cat who likes to sit on your lap. 😂 I do use essential oils sometimes, mainly lavender to relax or eucalyptus when I’m sick. I more regularly have wax melts going on in the house because they’re so fragrant, and in the winter when the air gets stale, I need some extra love in the air. Now I’m just waiting for that spring rain. Hi, everyone, I’m back. 👋🤗 My break was very much needed, and I’m finally ready to join on some challenges. Decided to jump in on #springcleaningyogis with my girl Sophie. 💕 Day 1’s theme is gratitude journaling. I always plan on journaling more than I actually do. And as such, I didn’t even journal for today’s theme. 🙈 But that doesn’t mean I’m not full to the brim with gratitude. I’ve been “writing” mental entries while looking out the large window into my yard, watching the birds. I’m so grateful to have the space and freedom in my life to add and subtract as I need to in order to feel my best. Watching the spring migration of birds was once what got me through the thickest of my depression, and it’s what brought me back to myself now too. It’s the last day #WishingWinterGoodBye , and it’s a bittersweet end. I’m feeling very grateful to everyone who has joined us in our seasonal challenges. They’ve been a lot of fun hosting and finding creativity in our posts. But I’m sad to say a final good bye to our fun. ❄️ For our last day, we’re giving you the freedom to choose what you want to share about winter with a yogi’s choice. I decided to go with a headstand because when upside down, you can view everything from a different perspective, and that’s exactly what I need most about winter. I’m trying my best this year to appreciate each season for what it is rather than focusing on the parts I most dislike. Winter is tough for me with the cold and lack of sunshine. But I need to remember that it allows me to pause and slow down. And when spring does come, it’s a feeling that’s unexplainable in how joyful it is. So, I’m working on shifting my thinking (about this and so much more!) a little at a time. 😊 ❄️ Over the next two to three days, I’ll be finishing up comments, and Sophie and I will likely choose a winner by the end of the week. It’s almost the end of #WishingWinterGoodBye , but sadly it’s not almost the end of actual winter. 😭 Though, the weather is supposed to be beautiful tomorrow. Can’t wait to see the sun! Just in time for the weather to turn to shit and drop 30 degrees and usher in gale force winds on Sunday and Monday. Yay, WNY! 🤪 ❄️ For day 6, we’re showing what we’re looking forward to most about spring. I couldn’t choose just one photo because what I love most about spring are birds singing, flowers blooming, and that one day when it suddenly occurs to you that all the trees are in full leaf. I’m counting down to when I can have my coffee outside on my back porch again. To listen to the sounds of nature instead of being stuck indoors. ....sigh....I need spring. It’s Day 5 of #WishingWinterGoodBye and Day 63 of winter. Which means we’re also Day 63 of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), and it’s time to beat those winter blues. ❄️ Some people can make it through winter perfectly fine (lucky fuckers). But for the rest of us, winter is a time of fatigue, apathy, and increased depression. It’s no joke. So what can you do? Well for me, getting outside—even if it’s cold—is a help. I feel a deep connection to nature, so just being in fresh air, watching the birds, being amongst the trees is enough to give me a bump of happiness. Nature is the best medicine. 💕 ❄️ I hope for your sakes your winters aren’t as grey and miserable as mine here. But if they are, how do you get through them? ❄️ 1. Snowga or yoga outdoors ❄️ 2. It’s Day 4 of #WishingWinterGoodBye which means we’re halfway through the challenge, and we’re also over halfway through winter! ...At least technically. But it’ll be colder than fuck here probably well into April. 😑 ❄️ For Day 4, we’re hibernating. For me this means naps. I’d seriously take them every day if I could. The lack of sunlight hits me hard, and I’m tired more so than usual during Feb and March. I don’t pack on winter weight because I pretty much stay my same gloriously chubby self all year; but, winter fatigue is my way of slowing shit down. I feel WAY more overwhelmed when I’m tired and sluggish, and I know a mid-afternoon snooze is the perfect antidote. Fuck the “go, go, go” mentality, if you ask me. I’m not sure that Mother Nature got my memo today that it’s Day 3 #WishingW interGoodBye because it was snowy and in the low 20s (F) here today! I need everyone out there to send your sunshine my way, ok? Ok., thanks. 😊💕 ❄️ For Day 2, we’re sipping or munching on some warm winter drinks or foods. My absolute favorite beverage to take advantage of during the winter is hot cocoa. Plop some Coco Whip (coconut “whipped cream”) on top, and 👌😋 Most other foods and beverages I eat/drink year round, but there’s something about cocoa that says “Winter Only” to me. 🤷‍♀️ ❄️ What’s in your cup or on your plate today, friends? ❄️ 1.
