“Even broken in spirit as he is, no one can feel more deeply than he does the beauties of nature. The starry sky, the sea, and every sight afforded by these wonderful regions, seems still to have the power of elevating his soul from earth. Such a man has a double existence: he may suffer misery, and be overwhelmed by disappointments; yet, when he has retired into himself, he will be like a celestial spirit that has a halo around him, within whose circle no grief or folly ventures.”
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Frankenstein
🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔 Good Evening Bookworms! I recently read The Raven Mocker by Emily Israd! I am coming to really love this series, I’m very excited for more of it! I finished Cinder last night and will put up a review soon. I am currently reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda! I will put update and thoughts about those on my story. 🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔
The Raven Mocker Review: So, I loved this book. I’m just going to jump right into my thoughts
Writing: I really liked Israd’s writing in the first book, but in the second, I found myself enjoying it even more. It has a great use of vocals and rhythm. The flow between sentences is what I really enjoyed. Overall, I really recommend the book for her writing.
Characters: So in the first review, I stated that I was very surprised and joyful to find some diversity in the characters. In book two, I fell in love with the relationships between the characters as they built and expanded. I was not disappointed. Also, with the better connections between characters, I found myself laughing out loud a lot more😁
Plot: I loved how a lot of the things that happened in the first half of the book all fell in place towards the end. I love that satisfying ‘you have all the pieces to the puzzle and they fit perfectly’ kind of thing. It made my fave Harry Potter book be The Prisoner of Azkaban and out of the two first books in the Jessup series, The Raven Mocker.
I was very happy to the development and relationships deepen. The story surprised me constantly. Please read this series! It deserves more credit! You can also find this review on my Goodreads!
