Last weekend I was in New Orleans, aka The Big Easy, and soaked up all the yumminess of beignets, Jazz music, gumbo, and all other Southern goodies. I was ready for this. What I wasn't prepared for was seeing the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina 10 years ago.
As I made my way down the Mississippi River, I saw demolished docks, crumpled bridges, and buildings, like the one pictured, that have water stains from Katrina and Betsy (1965). And despite the water stains and the less than ideal environment, the building read, "You Are Beautiful."
Rain or shine, happy or sad, angry or scared, we are all beautiful. The water stains, wrinkles, scars, and bruises make us who we are today. It's time that we embrace our imperfections and remind one another that
